Thanks for the feedback, we've experimented a bit with toon shaders in the past, but we didn't think they looked that great. We might experiment with it a bit more in the future.

Ok great game-project and nice comic, but are you going to make a newspost for every comic page that gets released?
Don't get me wrong, I really like the work you guys do, and you deserve some media attention
but newsposts about comics is not mod/indie game related. I'd rather not have all the mod related news get bumped down for webcomic news and 5 newspost about the same "organic indie pack" was not needed either.
It's not getting me more excited about the game and the development of it, on the contrary.
Please keep things like this for profile news, so that people who really care and "watch" the game see it, but not for the front-page.

I had no problems with it, ofcourse you need some skill and have to learn it, but that didn't take a lot of time and effort for me. It's a twitch-based game and learning how to fly and land a spaceship is part of the gameplay.
Anyway, I remember InfinityAdmin say something about a possible "auto-landing" system for those who want it, but I'm not sure thats still planned.
You can just land manually :)
Try the ICP for example, you can land on asteroids and even in the hangar of the battleship.

I agree, l4D2 wont sell as good as the first. While I love dthe first one I actually didnt play it that much since it only had a couple of maps and I got bored very fast. Im not going to pay again for a short game, this should have been an expantion or something, not a new game.

Yeah something like that, and there's a big difference between randomly generated and procedurally generated.
From the FAQ:
Procedural generation is not at all the same than random generation. In fact, it's pretty much the opposite: it's all about recreating the same data providing the same inputs. "Seeds" numbers are given to objects, so as long as an object has the same seed than before, it will be recreated exactly like before, with the exact same details, down to the millimeter level.
Synchronization between multiple players is ensured by making the server transfer the same object's seed to all players who are able to see or interact with this object. So all players will see the same procedurally generated object, like a planet, with the same details.
Its our galaxy, also know as the milkyway. Every dot you see is a star, and there are more than 100 billion of them. Unless you fly very very far out you probably won't be able to see it like this.
You might see it like this in the 3D map we are planning for Infinity.

Years ago I worked on a western mod for HL2 called Western Revenge, it got never release unfortunately and I’m not sure if anyone remembers. Anyway I’m impressed with the screenshots and I’m downloading the mod now.

Thats very very nice, you don't see a lot of maps lately that are so different from anything Ive seen on source.
Some textures are a little blurry but its great to see some non-hl2 textures and props. Good stuff guys!
No, it's not a reflection.
No, all textures will be hand-made, you can never get the same quality with procedural textures.
You can't fly to the core of the gas giant(which is not gas btw) the pressure would crush your ship.
In infinity you can only fly in the top layers of a gas giant. ;)
Maybe you to forgot check the description under the image? Those are Hephaestian textures and we have one example of a Hephaestian world in our solarsystem: Io(moon of Jupiter).
Io itself looks very 'unreal', its one of the most active worlds in the solarsystem and is a mix of different bright colors:
We only have one example of a world like this in real-life and we don't have any good close-up pictures of it, so I had to use my inspiration for this texture pack. Before I started working on this pack I did some research of course, personally I'm I'm happy with the results. I tried to give them an organic/chemical look, the textures are smoother and more reflective than most other terrain textures I made for Infinity.
Keep in mind that you only see 2 random textures, every texture pack has around 10 textures.
And please trust me, I've been working on planetary textures for Infinity for more than a year now, it's been my main job for Infinity. Ofcourse I look at pictures, ofcourse I do research, ofcourse some of those textures are strongly based on real planetary pictures from NASA and other space agencies.

I think the most important thing to remember when creating an education game is that a game ALWAYS has to be fun. So we mainly aim to create a fun game, the education aspect is an extra layer.

Often you just know what games are going to be good, you just have to make a personal selection. The problem with pirates is that they don't make a selections, they just want everything!

Yes Its for PC (and Mac) but you need a Leap Motion to play it. Depending on the succes we might port it to other platforms (and maybe a non-leapmotion version)

I like the fog/smog, it adds a lot of character to the city imo. It would be great of you could add some steam comming from the sewers, like you see in big cities like NYC.
It was already possible and done in 1984 with the Elite games. Procedural techniques enable you to do this without needing a hi-tech computer. I have no idea why no game studio has done this in the last decades with 'modern' game technology, it's a shame.

corusant buildings are very different, these are more related to real-life buildings than anything.
Theres a lot of updates on our forum, the devs are very open and join discussions on the forums. You just have to look for it.
Only the best contributions will be used in the game, the more contributions we get the beter the quality we will have in the game. Every contributor will get credits for his work(even if its not used) and ofcourse its a great learning experience for people who are new to gamedesign.

The ships dont have a final texture, only a placeholder.
Remember this is only a prototype to test some things, we never planned to add a lot of eye-candy in the first place.(but we still did)

- sometimes lasers pass through surfaces. Easy to fix.
- the "spawn" position of a laser is the center of the turret, not the guns of the turret. Have to add the notion of gun on a turret

Yes Elite has a lot of influenced on Infinity, and all the cool features like landing on planets in real-time and open ended gameplay will be in Infinity to.
