As a huge fan of Thrawn's revenge, I have to say this sounds and looks fantastic. I'm eagerly waiting and I know this whole team puts out nothing but pure, professional quality.

Do you have Legacy of Rome? The mod uses assets from that. The installer has an option to include a non-LoR patch. If that's not your problem, make sure the game and the mod are both fully-updated.

It doesn't last super-long and it's very lore-friendly. Even the literal god of men, Tiber Septim, was afraid of the flu. Just stick it out.

The empire-forming isn't smoothly implemented yet. Open up the console and type add_trait amulet_of_kings.

The mod team have a hotfix up on their paradoxplaza page. It's not on moddb yet.

Actually, Paradox released a minor patch on July 4th that broke the courtier/vassal view in the mod.
