Mod Review on Feb 13th, 2014

Short for (sic) Krush, Kill 'n' Destroy, the KKND series of games was a series of humorous post-apocalyptic real-time strategy game produced by Melbourne House, an Australian games studio. This game of never-ending war between the Survivors, your Enclave-type bunch of gung-ho humans, the freakishly mutated Evolved, and the Series 9, a group of robotic farmer Joe types turned berserkers deciding to reap a very different kind of harvest in revenge for their crops being destroyed. This mod, KKND 2: Carnage, takes the tried-and-tested gameplay of the original, and refines the game to better take advantage of modern systems, as well as do away with in-game restrictions that, while were necessary back in 1998, are just a dang hindrance now. The economy in terms of oil extraction has been improved, with oil rig units and oil tanker units now buildable at the start of the game - a welcome addition, among others, in this excellent mod for a venerable, classic game.

It is a good RTS game on its own accord, good storyline and lovely anime/manga inspired stylings. Why am I only giving it a 5/10 though? Because it was a completely dumbed-down version when compared to Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance, and would have stood much better as a game of its own franchise. It would have been better as its own spin-off, because as a sequel to SupCom 1, it is completely and utterly in words and language that isn't exactly PG-13 so I won't repeat it here.

Fantastic epic-scale mod. If you like games like Supreme Commander and want to give your C&C3 copy a new lease on life, then Xenoforce Original 3 is for you. This is one to watch and gets my full endorsement. I'd give it 100/10 if I could.

Imagine Dwarf Fortress as an old-school platformer and that's Terraria in a nutshell. It's tough to get the hang of initially but it is very much worth it. Great fun at a low price!

I had high hopes for this game, even during its long vaporware period, but it was a badly-rushed, and the human sides were basically the same as each other. Summary: I'd stay well away for this one, but if you want to play it, don't expect too much.
