Since you've mentioned the STALKER shop... IMHO, this is something they have 'overdone', like 'chased thelong buck' or squeezed the golden egg-laying chicken too hard - what was wrong with just making game(s)??? I know the piracy rate in Ukraine and CIS is sky-high but... Maybe I don't understand a thing in marketing but tv-series, clothes line, magazine, desktop games, figures (statuettes)... I think this should have been given to fans to handle and then GSC would just choose the best out of it to take under the 'official' STALKER brand or something.
I think all these 'marketing tricks' hook up only the children and teenagers. Is it really the profitable thing to do?

My point is (and all of us might agree) that time and money should be spent on proper DEVELOPMENT and TESTING of the game, rather than PROMOTING it in any (im)possible way. As far as I know, the most criticizing of STALKER was related to bugs and dropouts but not the 'advertisement' or 'promotion strategy'. Again, I see it from my side of the 'consumer chain', maybe the other side is non the less important...

I guess THIS is how 'old' infrastructure should look like in Europe or America, ha? xD sorry, if you are from Australia - no offence - but my point is that OLD infrastructure is what we see in STALKER.

Once again, sorry for that off-topic. I will ANYWAY wait for this thing's release because 'gun-free' and non-violent game is a VERY rare thing to see nowadays!

Best of luck to you!

That's what I'm asking :) I already know about the deleted 'no, we're still there' twit, I thought KazakHD has a FRESH info from GSC themselves.

Back to LA topic: are those large 5 levels you have left? ;) I mean - loooooong ones to complete the story line for? ;D

Well, let me as a person who have had all the chances to taste the 'deeds' of Ukrainian government (UG for being short) tell you who don't know it. A little off-topic but might clarify the situation about UG involvement in GSC break-up:

These freaks from UG are really CAPABLE of doing that. They're after EVERY buck and nickel in this country and any rich or successful enterprise is ought to be THEIRS (as they see it). What they actually DO as official institution goes beyond any common sense and stands no criticism AT ALL. So as soon as the UG bastards got to know about who GSC are, and how popular the STALKER brand is - they would surely 'contact' Grigorovich and 'have a conversation' or 'make a proposal he couldn't refuse'.
I'll tell you more - people who SAVED Ukraine and adjacent territories (if not half the world) from REAL threat of Chernobyl (the 'chernobyltsi'), the liquidators back then in 1986 - these same people who are left till now (they are slowly dying in pain of radiation and numerous radiation-caused diseases) got their government benefits and payments REDUCED recently, which almost means CANCELLED!

So, the last from me on the subject would be this - I REALLY HOPE IT IS 'PR' OR THE REASON FOR CLOSING GSC NOT BEING LINKED TO THE UG.

Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to see LA far more successful and better 'lo-profile' than closed. Good luck to you all, dez0wave!

Just a thought that xxx.xxx.xxx reminded me of... Just an idea connected with STALKER, not LA in particular and NOT some wish to add some stuff or something...

How come some artifacts are found right in the middle of a gravitation anomaly and they don't get torn apart? o_O

And another question (also, thanks to xxx.xxx.xxx) and again related to vanilla - why are chopper attacks so rare in the game? Actually, it's only one at CNPP sarcophagus which is quite easily escaped from. And there's a "boss" chopper in CS. But wouldn't it be a great thing to actually be afraid of chopper attacks after you've made a mess with military big time? I remember seeing CS demo with my jaw on the floor thinking "maaaan, AI is soooo developed now that u can actually hide in the reed from chopper, so it understands when you are seen and when you are not!"
Ok, chopper might be too hardcore - if it catches you in the field, with no covers to take. But at least - why not making "punitive military operations"? Like (once again - after messing with military) heavily-armed squad of 10+ military stalkers with snipers to spot you if you try to fight back that would just wipe some area clean? I don't know why GSC never added such stuff.

Once again, good calendar! Have a nice December everyone! Good hunting! :)

I would say "SPY-gaming" is a matter of space (just to avoid most dangers and observe them from distance) and ability to make enemies engage between themselves leaving you alone (good old trick of Doom or Quake itself, when you stand between two monsters and wait till one of them shoots and you sidestep etc., which will be a little harder to implement in STALKER). And it's also a matter of AGE of players - ofc, younger ones would tend to eradicate every enemy they see, while older ones would try to find a path to stalk unnoticed.

yeah, I understood what he meant. But how come blowout shelters can be anything but houses, tunnels, bunkers or other "firm and thick-wall" structures? It won't be fair if player is to take cover in conventional shelters (as described above) and NPCs and mutants will wait "just round the corner" pretending they're well-hidden, just not to be seen by player during the blowout! >:-)

A small question - why are you adding the blowout shelters now, after the levels are completed and tested? Might be insignificant, but... just curious, you know :)

Paranoia is my cup of tea %-)
Different continents feature is already good in terms of safekeeping. But having a DVD for each of these six computers will only improve the safety.
Nevermind, I'm only worrying about my psychological health - if you WOULD say "sorry, all data is lost. We have to start from our 10-30% readiness backup" I would go mad :)

Good luck to you guys, may all the force, inspiration and patience be with you!

man, people living in post-Soviet territory will surely like this image as much as I do! These roofs and upper attic floor windows look so native, common and close to us (all post-Soviet) that it needs only a little bit of lighting effects (like here) to fall in love with the graphic side of the game :)

I think, same as ppl get to know how to "mini-mod" their games with config files and stuff like that, some others will get a way to play LA with non-English DVD in drive.
Moreover, I don't think dez0wave team would be AGAINST this kind of "cracking"... OFC, it's my opinion only, I cannot tell for sure.

Dear Team,

Please try to understand that most of these people (including me) expect their dream to come true out of this mod. Because this is the way they ACTUALLY SEE YOUR GAME. That is why they keep asking (stupid) questions - to make sure it will be PERFECTLY the game they've always wanted.

Dear fans (including me), please stop bothering the busy team with all your wants and nice-to-have-s! Somehow, I'm more than sure that this mod will really kick a** as soon as it's released.
