exxxed, you are so right!
I gave almost identical comments to some other screenshots here and I understand that there are VERY LITTLE difference between people. No matter where you live, who you are and stuff - we are all the same and we get thrilled about the same things!
Cheers and +30 inspiration artifacts to dez0wave!

yeah, would be a great feature to see. But you can imagine how elaborated the monster should be - he should have different textures (maybe even models) not to get spotted right away and he should be "alike" some other NPCs...
Man, thanks for the idea!

I am sorry, Soap but it was I who gave you the -1. Reason why I did that is because I don't want to see the answer here - I want to EXPERIENCE it in the game %-)

And what did you mean by Cheap stuff?

By the way, overbrightened images look amazingly attractive! I think this feature is underestimated. High-contrast high- brightness image should have been used a lot more in vanilla.

Would be creepy to explore areas like this one...
- Why? - you might ask.
- Because this one looks EXACTLY like the view from my window and countless places all over Ukraine.
- What makes it so creepy then?
- Hey, do I know what has dez0wave put there? What can be scarier than the environment you got used to but designed to be spawned with all the possible dangers of the Zone? ;)

in sdk SHADER? Maaan, I think people like me (complete stupid lamers who can only play what they had "served to them on a plate") will start bugging you even more after LA release with requests like these: oh, oh, can I jump a little higher? How do I make my AK74 fire through rail? Can I be invisible for NPCs during the night?

:)

But indeed, after LA release (and maybe more after its completion) quite a lot of users would MOOOAN for some fine-tuning to be made to make this dream game even closer to THEIR vision of the dream game.

You understood my point perfectly. SoC isn't a simple shooter and that is good, but CS and CoP are really "stamped" although they had some good features. And I do wish GSC to have their fastest recovery.
My point was to your "you can't mass produce excelence" - first of all, you don't HAVE to. Moreover, you MUST NOT do it right after you've created a sort of masterpiece.

I'd agree with "stop the story of true GSC (2005-2006)!" but I'd never agree with "hey, they take care of market and money-making". Because giving 2 games in 2 years which basically add
1) improved graphics
2) game features features (NPC grenading, looting, guiding you around Zone, weapon & armor repair and modding - yes, these are good and appreciated)
3) new levels (as well as reviving the cut ones and expanding the ones from SoC)
is indeed money making and refining the cut features they've already had or seen from mod-makers as opposed to the features they worked on during the first seven years:
4) atmosphere
5) gameplay and replayability (see next item)
6) AI (especially the promised "magic" A-life that will make the Zone UNPREDICTABLE, which seems one of the components to me that would really make this game special among others).

I'm no specialist in game development, but items 4-6 APPARENTLY took more time than the 1-3, especially taking into account that 1-3 (except for graphics, I guess?) were also worked on but incomplete during SoC development.

Once again, let's put on our +10 patience artifacts (the fans) and +30 inspirations artifacts (the dez0wave team)!

:)

I would add, that one should never forget that we see those trailers on youtube or wherever else in POOR video quality, and those kinds of videos they always give this "vintage" kind of impression to you - your imagination draws marvelous pictures where your eyes see ugly pixels :) just an opinion because it always happened to me when I listened to something on tape cassettes (which lost HALF of its charm when listened from CD).

But to add to words of dezodor, this particular trailer looks natural and and at the same time sort of LACKING that "unnatural" feel that the mutated anomalous Zone has even in vanilla sometimes. To me, the success of STALKER environment is exactly in that balance of wild flourishing nature free of human for more than 30 years - on one hand, and dark mutated ugly anomalous post-apocalypse - on the other.

Guys, a little off-top but what is heard about SOPA, PIPA and ACTA? I'm not PRO piracy and I think people MUST earn from what they created, but as I understand those 3 4-letter words are not as much anti-piracy, as they are PRO-internet control.
U can pm to me not to flood this page. Thank you for understanding

I would say they should accept any food 'cause it's all free for them (I guess, they never pay for it).
The only reason why they should not accept food (NPCs / player and other mutants) is when they're commanded by controller, which never happens in vanillas

I support Matt's serious question. Would be great feature to see but minor thing to work on IMHO.
I heard a rumor that even in VANILLA some guys managed to "domesticate" tushkanos (those little rat-like mutants that squeak): you see them running at you and throw some sausages on the ground before them and they DON'T bite you. It's not that these guys were outside mutants' smart terrains or "gulags" and it's not that the mutants actually ATE the sausages, but this is what I heard...

IMHO, the more variety in terms of graphics style we see - the better, why do people complain at all? :)

Some of your screenshots really show different TEMPERATURE of the environment. Especially the ones with Generators - some pictures are dry and stuffy (yet a little warm, like summer eve) while some are really wet and chilling cold...

And guys, stop using the term "skybox", it's not applicable to the WORLD I see in LA. It's "sky" - not more, not less.

I start to be afraid of the release date (whatever it be) - I'm sure to get lost in Lost Alpha for loooooooong time...
