I do think this is one of teh very few source games/mods to ever do texturing and normal maps justice. Very well done, beats out valve.

Texturing could use a bit more Umph. I dont think I would concider calling it finished....

I think by pronounced, a better way would be to say too Neanderthal-like. Shorten it just a tad and maybe move it up a bit? Very smexy otherwise.
Smoothing errors ingame only usually come about If you don't have correct smoothing groups. So if you merged the redundant vertices to make about two or three loops and then again to make one loop I think it'd be right as rain. Could use some hi-poly baking tho....
hope you don't screw up the textures. You could have a brilliant model but a crappy texture could kill it in a heartbeat and vice-versa, even a crappy model can be made to look godlike with some pro texturing.
I think the specular on the metal and wood could be... more suiting for their materials? I also think the metal could use some more imperfections and character. It is an AK...

wow, I recently played Dwarf fortress. If this game is any thing like it... good god... It's gonna be awesome... like an early christmas (considering ya'll get it done by then... hopefully.)
