Dance your cares away.
I'm glad you're able to go back over and see where you need work and what you did well. I did cover a lot of it in my review, and I'm glad you're taking initiative and working on some of these issues immediately. They will greatly benefit your work in the long run.
I think we know how to bring up maps...
I like the concept, although I will say one thing about this map right now: if you're doing a road or directional map like this, it's best to have some kinds of natural barriers, not something like a chain-link fence if you're in the middle of a natural area. It makes it look less like the player is being directed a certain way and more like there's a path.
The tracks that we are using actually are open-source at this point. The 78 RPM Project is open-source recordings.
It's a basic room with a few misaligned textures. Please reconsider posting images like this. They do no one justice.
We are innovating the main game too. Just we're also making zombies for fun. I'm wondering what's wrong with that.
If this is what I think it is, it's the color correction. Don't quote me on that, though.
Yes, he talks in his sleep. Chickaligaloo indeed.
They did. To host, you need to make your own.
EDIT: I guess I'm wrong.
There's a few things on this I wish to point out:
1. At one point, there sounds like what appears to be something moving in the background, like a paper rustling, near the end. I don't know if that's my mind or ears playing tricks on me, but if it is, it's really something to avoid in the future.
2. Delivery could be a touch better. Right now, it feels like the current voice actor is reading from a paper. If they, next time, tried analyzing the text [reading over each line and making note of the emotion notated in the script] and then tried these lines, it would immediately improve.
I hope this helps.
You got a problem with Mr. Rodgers?
Yes. The music works on Use Key-activated radios. There's two per map. Each plays around a 15-20 minute radio-styled reel of music, announcements in the "world" around the fight, and radio ads.
Yo dude. Invite me to the group, Jimmy?
I'm sorry, but two new features does not a new HUD make.
Several map images, movie clips, and boasting statements that you can't back up. Good trailer.
Actually looks pretty good. If you want something to improve upon, however, look into making the hanger more destroyed. If I'm getting what you're trying to do, you want it to look extremely damaged from the Citadel explosion.
Alright. Just I say again, if there's something that's wrong, please let us know and we will attempt to improve upon it. Don't stoop to mkilbride's level.
And you wonder why I do this, Tabtoxin. It's not right to badmouth a mod on another mod's page. Mkilbride does this, and I would have expected you'd be better than that.
Reminds me a bit of Canvas. You'd better have a good reason, though, for taking over The Half-Life Parallel's page.
If you didn't like 1187, tell us why. Don't just say it's bad. And please say it on our page. We had other problems with this before. And, for the record, we did add noclip back in, just it disables the easter eggs to collect. The rest of the sv_cheats were still active in our first release.
Doesn't give you a reason to have it in the first place.
Once again, you don't do that. You make a placeholder from the HL2 base content. If you take Black Mesa content, you show that you're stealing content, even if it is a placeholder. You just don't do that. Otherwise, like what we're doing, we're calling you out on it.
Um, no it was skyu. He just got freaked out by it.
I was referring more to his removal of a previous comment of mine.
Oh, what's wrong? You can't face the truth?
Yet Desura can do that for you.
Please get the Human Error model out as fast as you can, we'd appreciate it.
Um...hi...listen to their other guy and think for a second.
I am agree.
I think that they mean the artificial lighting is a bit bright on the walls.
Like the mod, but you should consider creating an English voice acting team to supplement your French voice acting team. For those who can't speak French and don't want to read subtitles.
Good move quitting.
Doing this for more attention. You can rob him of his only goal very easily.
Getting better, but I can't help but think that these textures are from Black Mesa.
You should probably do this model all over again. It looks like a toy.
You took the EXACT screenshot that Mission Improbable used as their media release. Go and make your own mod or do not post on here that you're making a mod.
I am pretty certain that a thumb bends that way.
Aw, how cute. A three-year-old attempted to draw a Black Mesa Security Guard.
Long as they credit it, I'm OK.
Does that come with or without the voices, Au?
I know this shot too well. It's taken from Guard Duty, a mod which I work on. Thank you for letting me know you take content Mr. Sugar has.
TeamGT Mustang FTW.
Definitely suggest a retexture a little more hi-res, but for a stage one start, it looks OK.
Either that or make it tactical. This is a basic civilian shotgun.
I love the voice acting and music. :P
Thanks for the compliment. I wrote it and I like seeing people appreciate it.
Awesomesauce. On the level of John. :P
Breaks look too clean, and the texture has the windows in it, creating a wall break through a window. Definitely retexture ASAP.
Wasn't that Ending 4?
What I do know, I can't reveal. Sorry man.
You said yourself you did. Just give up. You're done.
Stop deleting my comments. You know you're using Wilson Chronicles demo materials and now someone's called you out on Synergy material. If you delete this comment, then I'm absolutely 100% certain you're hiding something and don't want to share it with us.
Tell that to Gamerman12, not me.
This is Dr. Doozer from ModInformer as well. I definitely think the mod has potential, yet it falls somewhat flat due to the gameplay issues, such as the grenade spamming that deadrawkstar had mentioned. It made the game nearly unplayable because all players needed to do was sit in control points with grenades, a sniper rifle, and an assault rifle and they easily could win. Those that actually tried ended up nowhere. As he also said, the weapon models are extremely inconsistent, where the grenades were good and the Beretta pistol looked like a small brick in your hand. I would suggest going back and redoing those, or at least increasing their polycount. Aside from those complaints, the mod has a lot of potential.
Maybe they don't want to give it out to just everyone? Maybe they want dedicated people to test it?
Glass is too thick and makes it look like you're underwater. Plus it needs frames.
Quick hint: you don't do that.
OK, I'm sorry, but that recharge station on zl_lab here: Moddb.com is from the Black Mesa leak. Don't think we don't notice.
Seriously though, either get more experienced at mapping or get a dedicated mapper. As good old Gabe Newell would say, "This isn't working."
Show us the armory then. It'll probably look similar to the other maps: needing a complete overhaul.
BTW, a few images back, nice Black Mesa Health Recharge Station. That from the leak? I thought so.
There's no frame, the door's inset into the wall, and it's a door that really should be used for wall background. I remember almost none of those doors opening. Why pick that version of it? And what's with the number pad? It looks cartoony.
Restart or get a different mapper. All these past images are extremely sub-par.
Comment removed. Somebody pointed it out.
Call that original?
I would love to join the beta. I am also with ModInformer.org, like deadrawkstar.
Yet you seem to make a point of finding positive remarks and negating them. I don't care if you don't like the mod; it is your decision. Please state your opinion when it is relevant.
What does your comment on Episode 3 mean when crossdressinate is talking about 1187: Episode 2? And can you leave praise for the mod alone? You've stated your opinion, and then went on ANOTHER mod's page and stated your opinion on our mod there. If you don't like the game, you don't have to play it. But leave people who like it alone, please?
I encourage you to. This one will probably be done before you even see a glimmer of hope.
That's not good, you know.
Thank you for defending 1187's integrity, MrSaturdayKnight.
Don't worry, you will enjoy it.
Oh, what's this now?
There's one thing about making some constructive complaints. Then there's another going on another mod's page and badmouthing another mod.
That's not very original, but I guess it works. You could always try to make something vaguely reminiscent, but give it a story of its own, not tied to the Black Mesa facility in any way.
Sounds OK, but there's a few pointers I must bring out:
1. Your mic quality's OK, but you should really consider in investing in a cleaner mic. Even a Rock Band mic would do. The voice right now sounds mildly affected by the mic, producing a slightly unclean sound.
2. Hire more voice actors. Your basic voice is too distinctive; even with an accent you can't mask the fact that it's you. I can offer my services if you want, but I'm not doing any advertising.
Just some friendly advice from a person working on voice acting for 3 years.
"A member of the Solar Empire who wishes to defect to the Coalition." Sounds rather familiar, don't you think, s-t-n?
So he's a Rebel Soldier with the Concussion Grenades back and more stamina?
If you have 1.1 GB of mod at this moment, your mod is going to be massive when released. Please try and optimize the amount of memory it uses.
I like the look of it, though perhaps it looks a bit sterile white while the chair in the left is more earthy, slightly dirtier. Perhaps it would be better if that were throughout the room.
Nice best pony avatar.
Thanks for the mention. Means a lot.
It was "mainstream" because it was easy to identify among the other barrels.
Check the fourth image before "New York City Confidential." ;)
Any particular reason for the red lighting? It looks a bit off.
This does not look very good. It looks like someone slathered mud on the radio and then added chromatic noise to the base texture. Redo this.
And, BTW, mud really wasn't the first thing I thought of when seeing this.
Secret projects are secret.
Love the hat, dude.
That's not bad. If you need to be able to see how they made it to remake it and make improvements through the new engine base, do it.
Just imagine Michael Goldsmith from 1187. Because that's me.
I take it you like it, Raven.
Incredibly repetitive. Needs some melodic line and there's an issue with beat timing, unless you're trying to go with a common time to 5/4 signature.
That's an idea we can work with. I'll talk with deadrawkstar about it.
The problem is in that test chamber is that there's nothing to cause the shadows to appear. It makes it look almost like there's windows in the room.
Perfect as ever Dave.
I would suggest making the map's directive route a little less obvious. Add in some rocks to make it a little more uneven, or just make the geometry a bit more uneven.
Extremely sparse. Add some clutter. I understand it's an Antlion Guard battle area, but it just doesn't look natural.
What else do you expect from 1187's people?
It defeats the purpose.
No, he's not. You can reverse the recordings all you want, James Paul McCartney is still alive. :P
Glad you enjoyed our mod so much.
Awesomesauce Dave. I've still got to get on that with James.
What makes you say that?
Nice promo shot from Vanilla NV.
I like the idea of making the classic vault door for the game, but don't you think the newer vault door looks cleaner?
Definitely change the flatbed under the APCs to make them fully supported underneath. Right now, they're sort of hanging off the ends.
Glad you find two mods that I played a role in are what you consider some of the best mods out there. It's good to hear people liking some of my work.
You had the track really atmospheric and extremely well done up until the heavy rock guitars came in. I would suggest going back over and trying to see if you can keep that initial feel up until the rock guitar came in.
Like the dirty look of it, but I would suggest redoing the textures around the door. I understand this is beta, but it could benefit from it.
You really need a better concept artist. This looks like scratch drawing.
Nice ported maps and models. I can see they're from Half-Life: Source.
This beats Black Mesa in all ways, considering, I don't know, they're remaking everything and you're porting lower-quality assets.
AKA a Garry's Mod Menu.
I'm a Fraggle. :P
Bump mapping galore.
Hacked content? This isn't hacked, as far as I'm aware.
Go over both the model and hands. They are both very low poly and, sorry to say, hideous.
Go back and redo it. So much about that is very low poly and, quite frankly, hideous.
There's a giant seam on the wall with the sink on what would be a sheet-rock texture. Plus I think you should put the sink somewhere else, since it's out of place in what I wouldn't consider to be a bathroom.
You'd want to round out the support pillar edges a bit, to make them look rounder. The lighting really does not do it justice to give the illusion of roundness.
And also, fluorescent lights would not have power arcs like that, from what I've seen.
Looks very sterile. You should change the ceramic tile textures into something a bit muddier.
That, and align them, because there's one point where they stop aligning.
Was that necessary?
Because this isn't right now a badly-drawn Microsoft Paint overlay on DOG.
You sir need to get the concept of texture alignment and...oh, I don't know...picking the correct texture wrap. You also need to learn the concept of mapping and brushwork. Right now, your mod looks like something sgtrandal made.
Thank you for pointing out the obvious.
You might want to tone the lighting down a bit. I understand it's for viewing purposes, but it looks a little wrong here.
Stop faking your mod. You're stealing Garry's Mod content, Orion content, and FPSBanana weapons. We know. Go away.
Looks like something out of NEOTOKYO.
We're going to try it initially like this, but then if need be scale it back as needed. If all works to plan [since I'm sure UDK can handle it], we can have it like this.
Head is completed too, just this shot lacks it and a few other features. They weren't added before this shot was taken.
I understand you're attempting to make a funny mod, but that should not sacrifice model quality.
Thank you for pointing that out. I would never have guessed Dec had something to do with 1187.
Just one comment that you may want to take into consideration: there was only one Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator seen, and it was on the Rebel's side used by Freeman.
Because he is and he works on keeping people on their toes.
Because this is such a good Photoshop.
It had better be a placeholder. It looks like crap in comparison to some of the other models.
And some select others.
Kind of sounds like a wet drumset with heavy flanging and a rock riff. I like my theme. :P Sounds like late-80s rock. Bon Jovi, maybe. So NJ, so I love it more. :P
I also wouldn't think that the concept that Dark Storm is using really would lend itself to something like a CoD multiplayer.
Strike that, it's actually in the South Street Seaport. What threw me off is the fact that the East River is also the Harlem River, and there's the Harlem River Drive, which threw off my placement of the actual location. Harlem is in the 90s.
Actually in Harlem. I should know; I live right near NYC and act as a consultant for Deremix. :P
Because here is my username. XD
I figured you'd know, since I applied for your game.
Since we've based the game from Star Fox Command's fourth ending, where she takes on a new persona as "Kursed," she does go through an extreme personality change.
It's meant to be. Remember, the Cornerians don't necessarily need to abide by Earthly designs.
Because John's that awesome. :P
Because we have something to show that's more recent?
I wanted to say that! XD
