Well, both take inspirations from the movies.
Will factions gave a mini-factions system? If yes, through the fortress and expansions, or via powers?
Will they have a shorter range than the others archers? But they could get powerful bows for that matter! Like, a bonus against heavy armour.
Amazing! Archers make sense, I'm glad the horrible axe throwers are gone!
You Great People don't know what hunger is!
You always spoil us lads :)
You're all awesome!
Will A.I be improved? Like, being able to make use of siege engines, casting new spells and summon new heroes?
Another question: what about second breakfast? Elevensies? Luncheon? Tea time? Dinner? Supper?
There are actually very few descriptions of the said structures in the books, except the walls of Minas Tirith. I think the movies did a quite good job overall.
No, not gonna happen! They only announced it a few days ago. The longer, the better!
Edain Mod focuses strongly on movies too (The Hobbit is a prime example).
I think I've never seen a mod that does not take inspiration from PJ's movies anyway, except SaF's Eriador and Gundabad, which are qquite different from the movies-inspired mods.
AoR could though... They have the means and skills to do it!
True! However some of the moddb BFME mods seem to come out from nowhere, I saw many who simply "borrow" models and skins from others mods, or even from other games! So, now I'm more careful with that xD
Looks like they'll have a mounted sentry unit! :p
True! I think it's been quite a while since BFME activity was that important. It reminds me of the 2006-2010 era, when there was a dozen of great mods around, especially in Revora forums (TEA, TDH, SEE, Rhovanion Alliance, Massive Middle-earth, Edain Mod, Ridder Clan mod, Lone Wolf, Kings of the West, more recently Shadow and Flame)
Many of these mods actually evolved to get better! :)
But the comparison with Edain would be unavoidable, even though both don't share the same ideas. Both mods are indeed top notch, but many people fail to see there are mods that are as good as Edain mod! The ones I've mentionned above are among those, maybe not so updated, but they let their legacy in BFME. For instance, TEA was one of the first mods to actually make the campaign more challenging! Rhovanion Alliance, though it never saw the light of the day, still influenced the way today's best mods in many concepts. They were the first to implement mini factions! :)
Shadow and Flame is another great example: a small mod that add Gundabad now intends to make Eriador as a brand new faction, and drastically improve the four others. The Horse Lords follows the same path: from adding Rohan to enhance the game, splittint existing factions, and now taking a bold new direction!
Ha! Horselords have evolved really nicely over the course of the years! I'm glad the revora staff is working hard onto delivering a smooth, lore-friendly and highly enjoyable mod once again! :)
In a way, it reminds me of the Rhovanion Alliance with all the stuff that's planned!
Now, that looks like a real BLOCK formation :)
Still don't care, it's a public group. If I want to put my two cents, then I will.
I know it's not on your plans, and I don't know if it's possible to do anyway: I would have loved to see a whole new WotR mode: expanded maps, more factions, scenarios...
If the vanilla game had more potential this mode could have been closed to TATW play style :p
You do realize, it doesn't makes sense at all to have that many factions?
For balance and authenticity sake, it would be only repetitive: Gundabad/ Moria and Angmar are located close to eachother. That means their troop trees will look the same. Ered Luin isn't a separated faction since it recognized Dain's authority from Erebor. Mirkwood/ Lorien and Imladris/Mithlond would be redundant.
Nah only riders :p
Will the campaign (both good and evil) be harder?
like more units, larger armies ?
I'm really curious which are the hidden factions for the future! My dream, would be playing as Rohan, in the Wold map (for instance), against the Men of Rhun (or "Men of the East" if they're not splitted). It would be reminiscent of the Battle of Celebrant, when Rohan was known as Calenardhon.
Rohan has always been a strong faction, with their top notch cavalry and diverse infantry. Eveen in vanilla BFME they were so annoying, spamming waves of peasants and cavalry, which was worse when Ents joined the frey! Especially when those were very resilient against infantry and fire in BFME1).
Great mod! It's really a lot nicer than the vanilla game. It feels closer to games such as the beat'em all released ages ago on ps2. I wish EA had way more time to polish it and kept the game they showed at E3 2004.
Nice fresh updates! Now Gundabad is even more unique, in my opinion it is the best depicted Gundabad faction in BFME mods. The quality of the models for the units as well as the buildings designs are top notch! Not to mention, but there is not much Hobbit trilogy movies' inspiration which makes it even better and eye candy. There is a true lore sake and respect.
It's a reminiscent of Rohan's structures, somehow :) I like this fresh design.
Well... Dunlendings? xD
Another hater downvoted me... Awww jealousy much?
They remind me a lot of the Black Uruks from the ROTK game! Nice work as usual :)
Knights of the Silver Swan! Charge!
The model quality is amazing! Definitely the best Halbarad I've ever seen.
