Anyone from Edain team can take my ideas in consideration? Or just feel free to say whatever you want about my Lorien's suggestion? :p Please!
Concerning Lothlorien faction, I may got an idea, but I am sceptical about it. But I 'll give it:
-since Woods Elves are closer in terms of relationship and bond with the nature, I was thinking of having a base made of trees and grass.
1) The wall is without doubt the hardest element to imagine, and to have something that really fits well with Lorine style and Tolkien's lore, the idea is to have a moat and a green wall, but not walkable unlike other Good factions.
2) The wall shouldn't get upgrades, instead it should have smaller plots near the wall to allow the construction of Flets. It has only one gate and no secret entrance.
3) Since the Galadhrim and Silvan Elves did not use stone their strucures and fortifications should be weaker against siege engines and fire. This is true by the fact Lorien was attacked thrice during WotR and parts of the forest was damaged, as well as Thranduil's borders were set on fire.
What do you think?
I think they look weird :p
I know there will be some improvement but they look too mannish.
Which models do the Gundabad orcs use as a basis? Since Half Trolls are gone I guess they use a bit of their anims, don't they?
Voted for Edain! :)
IA is the French version of AI that's why xD
Awesome news! BFME 2 was a fail concerning the siege feature, it wasn't LOTR anymore!
It happened all the time! :p Maybe a detection problem?
Crossbowmen shouldn't be allowed to shoot too far anyway, but could deal more damages than bowmen.
Dear Edain modders,
I don't know if you had the time to see and reply my question, but will the enemy storm the Free Peoples's castles with many siege ladders and battering rams and catapults?
What I mean, will IA be more agressive and audacious than before?
Dwarven crossbwomen's range is fine as it is now, the Longbeards have enough strong melee units and good range units to play with. I think a crossbow has to have slighter less range than a bow but compensate with being more powerful and accurate. Don't forget Dwarves are reknowned for their shock heavy infantry, they can go toe to toe with almost any infantry unit in the game. Their archers and crossbowmen shouldn't be touched on, they are mainly here to provide a cover for their more brutal brothers.
Mods are different, end of story. One is taking inspiration from the books and is for Mount and Blade where the graphics and engine are old, while TVS is based upon the movies and is for Warband, so updated motor and engine, better physics and graphics....
I know you don't like TLD that's all. Not my problem :p
You should calm down, dude. Some of your aguments aren't bad as alejandro said. But you won't get anything if you are rude and disrepectful.
I didn't see them yet. But who knows, they might fix them :p
That's why he has most of good critics about it. And why it had been downloaded so much :) still the best LOTR MB mod around.
I think the mod was excellent, at least in my opinion. The fact they chose the books for the visuals was surprising and audacious.
What I'm waiting for The Veiled Stars is to have better and more dynamic sieges as well as more quests. I'm not worried about the graphics, everything I saw seems perfect so far. The details are amazing. I wonder if there would be more settlements in the whole map though.
The only let down are about eh Dol Amroth Knights, I know there's going to have some changes but I prefer TLD design, not to diss it, but that's just my opinion. I love Uruks/ Orcs weaponry, Rohirrim and Gondorian equipments look both great.
Great looking mod! Take your time, don't rush it! I'm looking forward on how sieges will be (:
As a TLD fan I am eager to play this mod due to the different paths both developpers have choosen to take! :)
Now all the movies fanboys will love it because of plate armour and could say "TLD suckz"!
Yes the texts will be in English however the voices will be still in German (if I'm correct).
Ered Luin wasn't really militarized during WotR, since many of the Dwarves left it for Erebor. Miners and forgers would have been the local inhabitants I guess. Or maybe some venturers.
I am sorry Gnomi and Edain team to assail you all with questions but:
- will IA be able to use more siege engines such as ladders or siege towers for Isengard and Mordor's cases?
- I don't know if that had been already made before, but is it possible for IA to build siege engines (same as above) in maps like Helm's Deep or Minas Tirith rather than just spamming units and some catapults? I guess it's extremely hard to do without any scripts but that'd be awesome!
It is because I love your mod and the work done by the whole team so I am eagerly waiting for the release and news :) (like everyone else here)
Yes (: I know that was a long text but that could give more flavour and immersion rather than "scavenged armour" from EA.
I never understood why they put Spiders Riders by the way.... lore rape!
I like Gundabad's style, but I think there should be more variety between each batalion! :p
Thus Gundabad was an ancient Dwarven stronghold, the Holy Site of the awakening of Durin the Deathless, I'm pretty sure it was really rich concerning iron deposits.
What I mean, can Gundabad orcs have two renamed upgrades based upon Tolkien said the Orcs were armed for the Battle of Five Armies? He clearly stated that the legions of Misty Mountains were given armours and blades after Great Goblin's slaying, and since the gathering took place to Gundabad, this is lore-wise, right? ;)
"Underground blades" :Orcs deal more damages in melee thanks to this upgrade.
"Orc iron scraps": give more armour to Gundabad orc.
Goblins didn't adore the Balrog, that is a movie invention. Thus it is not very canonical. They could have some respect for him since he was ways more powerful though...
Why did you all downvote this guy? He just gave his two cents, he wasn't rude. Fanboys those days! No need to get mad Saruman.
I like Kadan's ideas! After all Smaug was very proud, arrogant and scornful towards all others races.
Maybe the Ring, if he manages to catch it, should make him stronger but in the other hand should descrease his armour or make him slower, since the Ring is an heavy burden for the one who carry it.
"The Almighty Worm: a passive power which makes Smaug stronger, more powerful but as tremendous he is, the power of the Ring has a negative side! That makes him slower and his armour is more sensible against arrows.
And if he has the Ring, his others attacks should be stronger.
This mod is taking inspiration from the books ONLY, that's why there's no Gondorian plate armour or Uruk-hai heavy plate armour. I think they choose to not put Oliphaunts for balance reasons.
This mod is the best LOTR based mod for Mount and Blade, I know many people regret the movies looks but that requires more courage and creativity to not use something that is already exploited by many modders. I like The Veiled Stars as well, don't get me wrong, but TLD is awesome and I always have the feeling of being a simple man in Middle-earth. The landscapes are truly wonderful, the cities and settlements are extremely well detailed and the units designs are just really close to what Tolkien said.
I like movies armour though Uruk-hai cleaver was definitely useless in a fight given its size and the shape of the blade. The Elves designs are good, pretty different from the movies but still closer than what Tolkien said. Elves didn't have golden armour in Third Age, above all Noldor use something more like silver armours. Even blades used by Elves were straight and in the movies they were incurved. Once again, I can only be in awe before the TLD's team massive work!
I'd say Lone Wolf tends to stick more with the books in overall. I like both mods, Edain and LW.
I have a question concerning Misty Mountains: will Hill Trolls be included? I know they are in Angmar but there can be another variant for them, smaller but faster using a club. What do you think? They used to live in Ettenmoors after all, thus before WotR.
Thanks for all the wonderful work :)
I got so many questions to ask , here are some:
Will there be random encounters?
Could wargs and orcs attack patrols, wanderers and raid villages?
Will Rhosgobel be in game as well as Radagast?
Will you include wildlife, such as bears, wolves, boars and spiders deers?
Are Black Uruks in game? They were bred in Mordor and Mirkwood as well, so they will balance the weaker orcs and play as stronger Dol Guldur troops.
Are Gundabad and Misty Mountains orcs playable and feature as enemies? What I mean is they could be recruited by Dol Guldur for instance, as smaller factions who could attack Elves and Beornings! :)
I really love the way your mod is looking, and it's interesting to see the Rhovanion being explored for once. Models and skins are fantastic, really close to Tolkien and PJ universes :)
I like the fact Dwarves can strenghten their defences. One thing which really bothered me (I think I'm not the only one :p) is that their buildings were weak. Then if Goblins spam a hell of a lot of units, your base will got destoyed in no time.
I guess Mordor and other Evil factions will got some new economic structures and systems. Take your time, don't be hasty, hummmmmmmmmm!
Yhe longer it takes, the better it'd be! :)
Hey I just kill you
And this crazy
But here's my name
So call me Lindon warrior maybe ...
Do you know what Hobgoblins are by the way? I don't know if they are a name for Uruks since Goblins are Orcs in the Hobbit.
Hey! How are you buddy? :)
