i like wars, fps, history, scifi, flight sims and Sega Dreamcast.
Quake 2 mods are not really supported on Dreamcast, but there is a Quake 2 port working, but it has no sound.
However Quake 1 is fully ported over, and it works with mods. There is a new version of Quake being worked on for Dreamcast and PC now called makaqu. It will have full hardware rendering in the 2.0 version being worked on now, so that means better looking Quake 1 mods with full 32bit textures. If you want to follow the development on that, you can find its blog here.
Other than Quake and Half Life PC mods on DC, the only other FPS engine I can think of that has a lot of PC mods on Dreamcast is Doom 1 and 2 mods.
PS2 port is not possible sorry, wish you Sony fans could experiance it just like us Sega fans can.
Look on the bright side though, you can get a Dreamcast on ebay for as low as $10! And you can play emulaters of almost every system that came before it! I play GT2, Tekken 3 and MGS on my Dreamcast all emulated BETTER than they are on the PS2 or even PS3!
AA to smooth out the jaggies and a much higher resolution that upscales it to 480p with a VGA box makes these PS1 games play and look better on a Sega system than they ever have on any of Sony's own systems lol. It is still a last gen system, so the graphics are great, and to top it off, you get Half-Life PC mods on your Dreamcast! Take that Xbox!
Porting to the PS2 is not possible. The Dreramcast is far easier to devope for than the PS2 and porting PC mods to HLDC is simple because the Dreamcast is a Windows CE capible platform(HLDC is running on WinCE), but the textures and things do have to be converted to a DC .pvr texture format first, so there is a fair ammount of work involved in the porting process.
Dude! I want Stalker on Dreamcast now! This would rock!
I believe there might be some code editing involved, but I am not a modder or programer myself.
More info can be found at the Forums where the guys that ported this and Paranoia and Counter-Strike post their releases.
If you are interested in porting some PC mods to HL DC, please register at those forums and make a new thread asking for some assitance from Ovveride or Dreammatrix, they are pros at porting HL PC mods to Dreamcast.
The Paranoia dev team did not port this, it was Override and Dreammatrix. They first ported Counter-Strike DC and Blue Shift and Black Ops and Opposing forces.
Dreammatrix was talking about doing a 007 mod like goldeneye but might need help developing it.
If you have the skills and drive to do it, porting mods from PC to DC shouldn't be too hard for you. All theire releases can be found at their forums, and a lot of information and tools can be found there too. They would be willing to help you out if you neeed any help or guidance.
It is a russian forum, but this is an English sub forum. Just register and drop them a message or post a new thread asking for assitance from the pros I mentioned above.
Hope that helps you out, peace.
Well, someone in the Dreamcast modding community said it could be possible to port over ANY HL SP mod by Compiling HL-SDK dlls for DC using WinCE Devkit and adding them to the HLDC code. Here is a thread about it.
Are you a modder? Modders are needed for Dreamcast ports, as maybe a handfull of folks make/port mods for it.
They Hunger is also on Dreamcast fully ported now, final version with saves and all 3 episodes on 1 disc.
Ok guys, sorry it is giving me problems uploading the game to Moddb, so here is the megaupload link, sorry for the delay.
Because the Dreamcast is a very open system, much like the PC is, and you don't have to install a mod chip to play burnt games, mods of games, or homebrew games. The Dreamcast was the first console to have homebrew, and it is still being developed for to this very day.
Apple! What it do? You never come to Battlefield Korea forums anymore, I feel not wanted lol. Add me on Xfire, I got a new account as Anthony817.
Hello! someone is interested in porting the HL mod Operations 1945 to Sega Dreamcast. He needs help from you to seperate the .bsp or something so it will port to the Dreamcast easier.
Here is his profile.
Please consider helping him, as it will add a new FPS game to the Sega Dreamcast, and will be the first time this mod is on any console system.
Half Life mods Paranoia and They Hunger episodes 1-3 released on Sega Dreamcast!
And more mods are still coming! This seems to be a renaissance time for HL mods on DC, many mods have already been ported.
And this is why the Dreamcast is the best console ever, and it will never stop dreaming the dream! It's still thinking!
@marihuas187: Never coming to PS2. The Dreamcast does things a PS2 and Xbox simply can't, and that is play Half Life PC mods! :P
Actualy, Dreammatrix just finish porting They Hunger trilogy to Dreamcast, so you might want to check that one out too.
The final version of They Hunger Dreamcast has been released! It includes They Hunger Ultra Definition Pack too! That means the best looking models and textures on a console!
Could we get this hosted here too please?
This os by far, the GREATEST FPS on Dreamcast, you will all love it. I have had it on mine for months now and it looks amazing!
I would LOVE this mod to be on Sega Dreamcast!
Update is epic!
Does this require a new game or can I contunue my old save with this mod just like I did with Stalker complete 2009?
Hey all, got it from the filefront mirror, I am getting well over 1mbps!
I have got to reinstall Oblivon again for this mod!
Hey, message me if you want to play Stalker 1.5
Hey, does anybody play this online with the 1.5 patch? I would really love to play online with someone but I will not update this to 1.6.
If anybody wants to play online and has this mod and the 1.5 patch leave a message below.
if you are using a no cd crack it could mess up the game like that.
Yeah, I only installed to 1.5 too, never cared to get the 1.6 patch, would it mess up my mod or game if I dl it for the MP?
Wow thank you so much! I love it now it is all maxed out sans the Mblur and it looks great and plays smooth! This has got to be the best mod ever!
