I'm a fan of shooters predominately, and also open world games like Elder Scrolls or GTA/Saints row. ARMA 2 is probably my favourite game, followed by BF3 and Skyrim.

There are some bugs and problems yes. But not enough to drop this game a single point.
The mission editor is increadibly easy to use, alowing you to play custom missions with other players really easily.
Great game, I'm pretty good at it (so that makes it more fun :P )
can be played really tactically with friends, you could playing run&gun style, but you wouldn't get as much out of it.
Nice break from ARMA II
