I really need to get a new desk soon, so I can hook up a second monitor and actually have ROOM to use my tablet and keyboard at the same time.

I don't know if there is a reason to colour this lol

Modeling in any program can be very fast and efficient. Where this works even moreso in a program like MAYA or 3DS is that they are MADE to be used professionally, meaning that anything that can slow down your workflow, has a tool to speed it up.

Where these programs really shine is their capacity to handle more then your computer ever will. Start pushing a few million polys and it will handle as long as your computer does.

The entire set looks great! A large piece with a great attention to details.

What I feel these scenes lack to really help them pop out dimensionally is some Ambient Occlusion. because the lighting is really evenly hitting everything that's in our out of the key sky light.

I'll also say that I don't fancy the glass textures, but that could just be me. The water textures as well.

I'd love to see what you could do in one of the more mainstream modeling programs, because you easily do some of the best work I've seen on sketchup. Ever try blender?

Great! I do miss the stock but this final result is great! I personally am on the bandwagon of "Extension" though.

To me it looks more like a pistol with a shotgun secondary fire, kind of Killzone-esque.

I wouldn't recommend using a 3D program for perspective unless you know how to adjust the camera for realistic settings, because depending on the angle and how close you are, you can get skewed unrealistic results.

Really all I try to do is perspective by eye, and if I need to I draw a bunch of perspective lines into the distance. A program specific to do that for you I haven't heard of. Definitely give me a yell if ya find one!

I'm sorry but reading your comment almost made me spit my drink. D:

Besides some obvious perspective issues, I really like this concept. All I can think of is hearing ice cream truck-esque music and seeing this roll up, watching all the soldiers run to get their gun and ammo FIX

Worried? naaaaah.

They aren't dumb enough to make the same mistake twice, at least I like to tell myself that.

They were aiming to release HL2 Ep3 like 4 years ago. Now they are just padding it out. Making a new engine isn't as easy as it looks is it valve?

Actually it was Death Race 2000 ;D unless you are talking about a different one I've never heard of. Machine Gun Joe Viterbo, Played by the one and only Stalone! Really a must see movie of the 70s, which really pushed the limits of violence in movies at the time. I mean come on, the drivers got extra points for running over BABIES and OLD PEOPLE IN WHEELCHAIRS.

Considering the uproar we still manage to get nowadays blaming games for youth violence I can see why the more extremist types would go as far as purging these consoles publicly. I bet every kid who knew about these consoles wanted to play it REALLY bad, considering how their parents all hated it :P.

Should find more of these old posters :D, I love em!

I can see some great work in the forest shots for that update. The only problem I have with these kinds of environments is the trees. They are what break the false reality for me and for a couple of reasons:

-Common to these kinds of environments, from a front or side view of a tree the edge can be distinguished quite clearly., especially when all branches are given similar angles to the branches.

-The indistinguishable layering of the branches. Nothing clearly pushes out or looks to be infront of anything else. It's the lighting that seems to be needing a slight touchup (some more AO or final gathering/global illumination). The same effect is needed for the shrubbery.

These could just be issues I have with the cryengine in general (Global Illumination and final gathering to make the bounce light MAKE MORE SENSE to me), but that is really my ONLY problem.

Really, most players won't notice anything ingame because they aren't as critical as I tend to be, especially towards this engine. Please don't take these as insults, I'm only trying to cause improvement!

You're really talking about considering the other sides arguments this late into the game? By now if you've been reading here you'll have seen the same comment copied over 3 dozen times at least, with the same responses.

Giving a good point doesn't mean I should agree with them, and finding flaws in my own thinking WOULD CAUSE me to change my opinion. dur

You're reason obviously isn't the same as mine, but that doesn't mean you have to flame my posts, or anyone else's for that matter. Try contributing your reasons you don't own them for a change.

I thought I knew what I was paying for with the first, but I was wrong. I know what to expect from the second, which is another reason I will not buy it. To each their own though.

All I have to say about the weekly patches is: A game that has to be updated with fixes so often, should have had more care put into it before release.

Just came to congratulate you and your team on your awesome release. First thing quoted by me and my friends for this mod was: "Why wasn't HL2 like this?"

Again, awesome work! Look forward to COOP release!

It IS a manifesto remember. Should probably update that to the second boycott groups, because it's old as hell now.

Periodic content means significant updates, and those came a year later, just before L4D2.

I don't need to play a game to understand what it is, how it players, etc. A few videos or streams of players on this game gave me everything I needed to know. It isn't a complex game. It's a generic FPS.

There WAS just a sale. It had nothing to do with L4D1 owners. It is good that L4D2 costs so little now, but I have no real incentive to buy it, and Valve lost me as a customer over a year ago, something they're going to have to work hard to win back. So far nothing.

It's a boycott remember, we aren't really upholding anything. It's more that some of us aren't interested in buying it at all, although some simply refuse. Sitting in this group hurts no one, and lets anyone who wishes to speak up about what they thought of the boycott to do so. Being in the group can simply mean you don't own it, and won't buy it.

Oh and on the demand/request thing, those were tougher times ;D. But yeah in short: old section is old.

What am I supposed to check this everyday? It's a boycott not a revolution. It wouldn't take that long to use wikipedia, and even then why would I need it for my favorite franchises of all time?

UT2K4 has the FAVORITE maps of UT2k3 remade onto it (Keyword if you can find it), and was a largescale engine upgrade. There was large additions like vehicles, weapons, and acrobatics added, as well as dozens upon dozens of maps. Hell people still preferred UT2k3 of UT2k4, until the MSU contest came around. One other thing you forget is that the UT franchise is made for one reason, to sell their UE2.5 engine, which they have done a hundred times over. The money they make comes from engine sales, not game sales. The only reason Monster Madness sold so well is because it gave modders an early introduction to the UE3 engine. A head start for those expecting another MSU contest around the corner.

New survivors does nothing to the game, at all. New campaigns is like adding a mappack. SO basically you say its an expansion, not a full new game. OMG guess what, we do too! Some new weapons and infected, and what do we have? AN EXPANSION. You do realize WHY this boycott exists right?

Making campaigns does not equal modding (Up to a point). Making maps is entirely different from adding new weapons and new gameplay mechanics. RIP AddonDB.

AlCool Oct 5 2010, 8:10pm replied:

Crash course came out not even 2 months before L4D2.

Your comparing this to Doom? A game that at its time was top of the line graphics technology. A sequel that was a largescale engine upgrade (At the time) that sold near hundreds of copies and also had a few expansions after it. A game that won numerous awards and is still considered by many to be the best franchise of all time? Doom is why we have FPS games as we do today. The game and levels have been remade countless times, but nothing can replace the oldschool feel of playing the original game. Use more recent examples.
