Could definitely also use a reflection map, among other things.

There's only like 2 types of weapons in the scene, and a lot of one type at that. If I have more time I have a bunch of untextured props I wanted to put in there.

Reflection effect = not great, but it did do a few things I like to everything BUT the yellow parts...

Imagine a large masked man standing up and screaming, on a rescue vehicle no less!

I should model one of those injured person carrying things to the back for laugh factor.

JUUUMPZ. After I get these rendered out a bit, I'll definitely go back and add some particles. It just BEGS for them!

On a completely unrelated note, an ad was on the right side of my page that took up 50% of the window making me unable to type in a name or description for this pic until I reloaded the page a few times and got a different ad. This is why on MY computer I use ADBLOCK D:< (And no clicking the X on the ad didn't get rid of it)

Also with the particle effects, I tried about 3 different ways to do them, each getting results I didn't like. I planned of having it shooting from the back and along the front behind the skis, then blurring it out in compositing. I kinda got into the mindset to just try and show off the model and not worry about the particles.

If you have any suggestions for places to go when looking for a good way to do these kinds of particles I'd be happy to check it out. Hell I even tried modeling in the dust effects, which seemed to actually be not bad, but rendering-wise, you can probably see where that went.

I had a lot of particle effects but I REALLY didn't like how they looked. I'll need more time to make those look anything like I want them to, or find tutorials that can maybe lead me in the right direction with them.

I have a map for reflections, but actually didn't even think of putting it on the hood! *Smacks self*

I keep trying to tighten the blue around where the path is. I can do it a bit more, then lighten the blue in the path a bit. I'll try n post those later tonight if I have time.

Yeah it was mount and blade inspired :D

I was actually just in the process of doing that with the AO. I'll post it later.

There actually IS light fog. I didn't composite it for this shot for the same reason there is no fire on the torches. Just wanted to quickly throw it up, and a bit o lazyness. I'll add it to the next shot.

Torch hotspots be a fickle thing. I'll see how it looks when I increase them. (I have messed with them a LOT since the beginning)

Since the floor and wall ARE fully separate textures, I tinted the ground more green, and the wall more blueish. I was told the exact same thing already by a few people haha. I'm going to try and add a few loose blocks or something to break the pattern if I can.

These were Mental Ray right out of maya, each a single frame. No compositing. Set at half resolution (From 720p)

I find it really helps describe the shapes a lot better with AO on. Definitely a must have for any showreel project.

Most games that use it use it at a VERY low setting, but it still makes the lighting look better.

Also there are no torch fires in there. I have them ready, but they hate being rendered with everything else, and I was feeling a tad lazy to add them to these. ;D

I agree we definitely need True Combat Elite. Favorite FPS!

One of the original programmers has been working on a mod of TCE with new guns, maps and such. It has a release out too. Still a community going!

As for Urban Terror, I highly recommend trying it if you haven't! Excellent classic!

Haha, one is a bit higher then the other. Kinda made it in a few seconds and didn't notice. OH WELL! (<--- Fails at being a perfectionist)

Also PNGs appear to be crushing the colours a lot. Might see what other formats this website lets me upload. (Targa anyone?)

Only now I notice the camera is doing a bit o fish eye. Forgot to change that too XD. Man I'm terrible. I should just give up

What bothers me here is the shinyness of the hood, but I have a solution to tone that down a reasonable amount, and possibly add a bit of a glossy effect to it that I lost when I changed the materials on it.

I apparently uploaded these in 720p... Whoops (But the quality was only set to medium)

I'm trying to darken the snow a bit, but I'll have to wait till I get to transfer it to the other computer I use, so I can see the ACTUAL brightness.

I'm surprised noone has commented on the snow. It's a LOT less blue now, but still, that was the #1 thing people were bugging me about everywhere else lol.

From what I used as reference and from what I could find out, the front is made of a special hard plastic. I tried to mimic the shading to what I saw in the pictures.

I've had a lot of comments on the yellow parts shading so you aren't alone in thinking it looks off. I have vaguely changed it since I uploaded this. I'll upload some in higher res and see if it seems any different.

I see your favour the warrior. Although you miss out on some of the warrior companions weird dialogue, you still get to have that obsessive sorceress in the party. She scares me.

I have noticed tho that each companion DOES have special dialogue based on if you bring them on specific missions, and can and WILL get mad at you if your go against their beliefs. I hear there are loyalty missions to help ease that later tho.
