Zoey was in her first year of college prior to the outbreak which makes her at least 18 years old―or slightly older depending on her college entry age. Her backstory reveals that she was ostensibly studying movie making on a scholarship, her parents were divorced and that she had a somewhat closer relationship to and more shared interests with her father―a city police officer.

I was hyped for this game forever. I was following it when he had the long-haired look and the 'blend with the crowd' mechanic, and all that jazz. I was constantly looking for new information on my favorite franchise. I've played SC since the first one, and I couldn't wait for the new one. I'm still waiting for info on SC6.
From what I've seen, Conviction appears to be a crime against the franchise. The Splinter Cell community seems to hate it. My take on it is this: It's a great game, objectively. If you replace 'Splinter Cell' with 'Man of Action', and disregard the previous games, it is a fun and complete game. In regards to it being a full Splinter Cell game, then I agree, it's toned down for people who are easily frustrated.
However, I still think it's a fun game, and find myself playing it frequently, regardless. It's better for quick action, whereas the previous games always had a way around, and the challenge lied in finding that path.
