My name is Alasdair and worked on the MERP project.
Just a trolling fern ;)
I think i would too :D
The books don't say that the meshes dont specifically look like that, its an art style more than a fundemental. There were no crossbows in LOTR, uruks used bows instead, therefore we will give them bows, simple ;)
Yeah, there will be people knowledgeable of lore, but they wont be able to use all their knowledge of history to summon fireballs, cast lightning and heal allies with fancy pants magic. that's the crap that we are talking about when we say we will stick to the lore :P
Other concepts and ideas we can get away with, as well as a certain implementations which may be only slightly different to lore but not change it in a drastic way. (mainly models)
There are waving banners ;) I placed two of them at the edoras fords between two rocks at either side of the fords ;)
problem is that it is WAAAY too big to work :P
That's closer to 1-1 scale so if we were doing just a heightmap of gondor, at the size of our current middle earth it would probably be to scale and we could have real life timescales :P
Yeah you are correct, there will be subtle magic for those reasons ;)
why not? :P
Already have that one ;)
For the most part it will be compatible, although some extended features may not be further into the game.
Awesome concept art ;)
We will likely add more thought to it, but it is a major point which is mentioned in the books. The first wall is made using the same material as Orthanc, so it won't be the same style as the other walls, and definitely wont look evil. (We may even make Orthanc lose it's evil pointy look from the films, as it was never an evil stronghold to start with, just a watchtower "fortress" made of 4 unknown slabs of black rock :P)
Much better than MEB's caption :P Will change it :D
We have already contacted one, and another came an applied on the team ;)
We can't use the ones that are already created for compatibility reasons though, but they will require more planning and models before we work on that are (maybe a new moria heightmap to) before we are ready to start ;)
They were non canon, however it is a possibility as they aren't against the lore.(except berethor maybe who's story is a little too far-fetched) They would have to be in their original locations/positions though, and not following the fellowship.
I would get a 690 if they did proper 4gb (marketed as 8GB) versions. At the moment its just 2+2 so actually has LESS ram than a 4gb 680 :P
All depends on screen res ;) I would happily use up the 4GB of a GTX 680 on my setup (you've seen the size of the screenshots :D)
Make sure you click view original to actually read it :D
I believe that it is
We definitely need to add smells in MERP. I'm sure someone will come up with a way of doing it so that you can smell the blue cheese in its cheesey goodness.
I like trains
Yeah, wolf riders will be in ;)
Check the map in the images section ;) That is basically our limits before we can go over the memory limitation. We bypassed the ck "limitation" ages ago.
Certain lines of squares may be moved from some places to another from the edge to fill in more space if needed, but that is the basic shape. You should also be able to see into the distance of the northern wastes, rhun and harad, further than you can actually go on the map.
