My name is Alasdair and worked on the MERP project.
Good idea :)
Guys, a possible workaround for seeing the hobbit at the cinema without giving WB any money:
Go to the cinema and check what movies are on which aren't affiliated with WB which are in the same area as the hobbit and possibly from a company which you would prefer to support over them (maybe the BBC :P). Buy the ticket for that, and go into the hobbit movie and watch that instead :D
You pay for a ticket, you watch the hobbit and warner gets no profits from you :P
It's not really simple at all :P all the main events take place many years after each other and therefore isn't really possible to do from a role playing perspective. we could just focus on a single point in the story bit a lot would have to be missed out. Plus there's the tolkein estate infringements. MERP would only take place over around 3 years maybe if the player decided to continue exploring for a long time after the main quest.
this isn't related to MERP. someone else has made this.
no reply as of yet :(
The fan films are a good point. I guess it's up to WB what they pick and choose, but they would be in exactly the same situation as us if they got a C&D. The whole point of this legally is a mess. All they are doing is pushing around fans.
It doesn't work like that :P
At least we know these top comments are working!
Got this comment on facebook-
"its been from mmoxreview. his latest video had a top comment about it, thats how i found it today"
Another comment here
It is true, and i managed to point this out to the team. A number of the team members don't feel like working on it privately if there is going to be no public release (they are working on it for their own appreciation as well as the fans following the mod)
No reply yet, but we still hold hope that he will do.
is that supposed to be a wonderwall reference? :P
fair use does not soley apply here though.
Well, citizen, that's an excellent question and I thank you for it. I think it's great we live in a town where you can ask questions. Because without questions, we'd just have answers, and an answer without a question is a statement.
The team has expanded, got better and matured since then. with oblivion we didn't follow any proper plan and it all got messed up in the end behind the scenes. We started with good solid planning with skyrim, with sometimes daily merges rather than yearly ones, so everyone was up to date. Going to skyrim was the best way to reboot the project to get it back on track, alongside some other nice features and resources that the engine brought. It is very unlikely that it would move onto ES6 now we have a solid plan.
can everyone post how much the project means to you as a fan please?
Much like pascaliedema's last post.
A few members of the team are on it :)
i noticed that as well, so hopefully it can be used to help our cause.
Already been changed days ago ;) Unfortunately the link cannot be changed (and would have to be reposted everywhere too)
New interview video up, another one following shortly :)
me too :D
What happened to bedtime valy? ;)
WB has claim to the books as well
The best answer you will get from that is longer than you would have had to wait if they didn't issue the C&D ;)
I knew it was something to do with france :D the past 18 pages are french people's petitions :D
it is so much per year as well, so it would cost an awful lot of money as we don't have a specific time frame. Plus it would mess stuff up as a mod and with bethesda.
Nearly 3000 now! Come on guys!
That's better :P
A little more description would be helpful too as it is trying to spread news as well ;)
Ride, ride to ruin and the world's ending!
AND MY OSTRICH!
