When you select "Post Everywhere", the news is submitted to the news team for evaluation. If the news is good, with minor errors, we fix them and put it on the frontpage. Examples of this are not centering images, incorrect listing format, spelling issues, the like.

However, in order for news to get frontpage, it needs to have media, such as screenshots, demos, videos, etc. My guess is (I don't recall handling your news) that you did not include media, and therefore it was left in the mod profile instead of on the main page.
