Not if you just play the offline mode. That's where the episodic structure comes into play. If you want to try the online mode, I believe it's $10. You can actually rent this game in the stores, unlike the other PSO games.

Mind you, the voice actors are below average, among other cons about the game, but overall I had an enjoyable experience.
