Expanding Fronts

Mod review

There's such an unbelievable amount of content in this mod. It has completely renewed my desire to play this old game again. Can't believe it's 17 years old and now it's like a new experience to enjoy again.

I've had a lot of fun just messing around in the scenario editor and recreating iconic battles, playing around with the AI and I even inserted some of the Episode III tracks in with the music file, which I noticed didn't work without the CD so I'm grateful I can listen to it again while I play.

The most notable features:
-HD Widescreen support

-Soundtrack bug is fixed

-3 entire factions have been added to the game (even though the Confederacy technically isn't new, it's been completely redesigned so I would consider it a new faction) and have also been balanced for multiplayer use.

-Numerous unit classes have been added, such as the Attacker and Interceptor aircraft class, a ground transport, an aircraft freighter, mines, a cheaper anti-air turret, a ship that fires a mortar at land units, and probably more that I'm currently forgetting about.

-New maps, terrain and objects from worlds like Jakku, Crait, Scarif, Felucia, etc. Plus objects to make space levels more interesting.

-A ridiculous number of high quality scenario editor objects and units that can make maps extremely rich and detailed to create your own single-player levels with.

The mod can be tricky to install for some, but I actually couldn't even play the game when I bought it on Steam til I downloaded this mod, it took me a while to get working but I finally did and it was worth the effort.
