2 Person Games is a one person independent games studio, founded in May 2011. Being a one person studio I do everything for the company – that includes design, development, artwork (usually outsourced to friends), sounds (usually outsourced to other friends) and marketing (usually failing at). I occasionally take on freelance work when I can to give me room to think and create. I’m passionate about games of all sorts. I love video games, boardgames, tabletop and live-action roleplaying games. My favourite boardgame of all time is Twilight Imperium, without a shadow of a doubt. My favourite video game is StarCraft. As you can tell, there’s a strong running theme of Science Fiction there, which explains Space Salvager. My passion in life is making games, that’s what I do. Be it games mastering for my RPG group or making video games for a game jam – making games is what I do. I’ll develop for any platform that’s appropriate, which is usually desktop and any console that’ll take me.

First off, apologies for delaying the Steam release. There's a few things I want to finish up before letting it loose on Steam and I've been somewhat behind on things due to a strong down period end of last month. But here's the good news: scanning! More importantly how talents affect scanning.

Scanning

Scanning is new in Space Salvager and the idea behind it is to let you know a bit more about the things you're shooting before you shoot them. So far you can scan three things:

  • Asteroids
  • Salvage
  • Space Ships

Each of these will return some basic information, such as the celestial entities unique identifier and possibly it's name. For more detailed information though you need to ramp up your talent levels. There are a number of different talents in Space Salvager, all of which are increased by spending time doing the associated task, and can be found in your pilots license.

Asteroids

With a mining talent of one you can find out the mass of the asteroid as well as the rock type it is, this can be helpful to estimate how many resources are within it and of what type. With a mining talent of two you can find out the name of the ore inside, telling you what kind of resources are within. Finally with a mining talent of three you can find out the exact amount of resources within the asteroid.

Salvage

With a salvaging talent of one you can find out the mass of the debris as well as the name of the ship if this happens to be a wreckage. With a salvaging talent of two you can find out the amount of machinery and electricals that might be inside. Finally with a salvaging talent of three you can find out the amount of aluminium, iron and tungsten as well as the name of any equipment that might be found within the debris

Debris Scanning

Space Ships

The data you can retrieve from scanning a space ship is a little more complicated than the asteroid and debris.

With a piloting talent of one you can find out the mass of the space ship. With the previous talent level if you have a laser weapons talent of two you can retrieve the ships shield percentage and if you have a mass driver weapons talent of two you can retrieve the ships current armour percentage. With a piloting talent of three you can find out the exact number of weapons that ship has.
