Well I'm an on and off coder, I started by playing around with the Half-Life code, see I still havent gone back and learned the basics which is what I'm about to do, but I so know what you start on, you want to start with consoles, for the rest you might want to find some tuts or a forum that can help ya out sry I cant do more.
