This is just a random guess but maybe try changing your monitor's color depth to 16 bits for a temporary fix? On Win7 you have to open the Screen Resolution screen from Control Panel and then click Advanced Settings and in the new window that opens click Monitor and under there should be Colors- change that to High color (16 bit)

Unless the zombie is soaked in gasoline I can't think of a reason why it should light on fire to be honest. As far as i know NMRiH is still trying to be semi-realistic

Mine too. There's just something about that whole atmosphere of Mirror's Edge that no other game has. Those kind of sterile looking modern, newly built buildings give me a sort of dream-like feeling for some reason and I just can't get enough of it. I keep coming back to this game again and again, even though I've already completed it like 10 times already
Though I'm not implying that this is a ripoff; storm sewers pretty much all look like this

The standard version looks nice and believable; this one on the other hand - not too much. Having a second head with teeth grow out of its *** is a bit too far-fetched IMO

If you want to take it a step further you should make it so that you need to have these simple lead containers physically present in the backpack as an item and you have to "combine" the artifact and the container. If you just have the artifact without the lead container it gives you both the negative effects (full radiation) and also the positive effects. So you have to be prepared to find one these artifacts because obviously the lead container weighs quite a bit and takes up inventory space. And if you find an artifact but you don't have a lead container you have to make a decision: do you pick it up and hope the radiation doesn't kill you before you find a trader or you remember the spot, buy a lead container and then come back for it.
But I'm afraid this might get a bit annoying; just throwing out some ideas

Apocalypse usually means the devastation of the whole world, in STALKER only the area of the Zone is affected. So yeah, it's not actually post-apocalyptic IMO. But saying "post-local disaster" or something like that would be weird :P

One thing though- I noticed in the trailer that the player's walking speed is the same as in HL2. I think it would add quite a bit if the walking speed was reduced and there should be an option to walk even more slowly, I especially missed this feature in Nightmare House 2 and that fast HL2-type walking kind of ruined the immersion for me.

On the cosmetic side:
*the colours in LURK 1.1 just don't look real, they're a bit overdone or...I don't know exactly what it is, but they just don't look believable (but judging by these new screenshots, you've fixed that problem, those screens look truly stunning!)
*I don't know about others, but my sky looks kind of segmented in 1.1, like, I can see many different "areas" in the sky with sort of "lines" between theme where the sky's colour should smoothly go over from one tone to an other, but instead it's in many different segments.
On a game mechanic side:
*The AK series of weapons are known for being the most reliable weapons ever, they take a lot of abuse and they still work without a problem. But in 1.1 my AK constantly jams. You should look a bit more into this matter and make the weapons more authentic and closer to how they perform in real life. Of course this is quite a tricky task because I don't think you have a warehouse full of weapons to test each one of them, but I believe at least some improvements can be made in this matter with info gathered from the internet.
