Location: Anywhere - Looking for: Level Designers
Posted by Vynzent on Sep 1st, 2012
-Level design experience required-
(Game could be for profit, open for discussion)
Hello, I am a designer/artist, and am working alongside a Unity programmer to create an original indie title, yet to be named.
As you might know, taking on an entire game project with little help can lead to nowhere, and as such we simply must have more help.
Our goal is to make a first person shooter, with classic gameplay akin to DOOM/QUAKE/RAGE, basically idSoftware games, but with some nice new elements when needed.
The game is designed around a corroded Earth, so it's monsters vs humans. Inspiration for the game is coming from DOOM and Darksiders. If you've played those games, you can get an idea.
In level designers we are looking for:
-standard level design (basic level design, the general shape)
Essentially, the job is to create the "shell" of the levels, if you will, and focus on level design in a gameplay point of view. Your job wouldn't be to make the levels pretty, it would be to make them fun, exciting, and non-linear.
You can see some basic ideas of the game here:
Those are made by me, and are an idea of minimum detail I'd like. I'm no real modeler, this would be a nice standard quality, nothing less. I'm not focusing on modelling, however, we need other artists.
-I have intentionally not created all that much concept and such, to give artists a very large creative freedom within the very few rules there are. A very basic process might be making a rough little sketch, and if we agree it fits with the theme, then you're off to modelling.
-If you have an idea in any area of the game, you can feel free to talk it out, everyone's voice counts, and much.
