Cyberpunk Mod Backstory Remix Thread - Writer's Club

Hello everyone, Henry Swanson here. Real glad to see there's finally a Writer's Group. Sweet

Here is a quick remix & expansion I've done of the "Experiment 04" mod-backstory. I think it's a cool looking mod with a lot of potential. I did this remix for a fun writing exercise - and also as a way of advertising my (free!) services as a writer and general ideas-man, here at awesome MODDB.COM.

Writing (I.M.O) is as important and vital a skill as any other part of the game development process - graphics, sound, etc. If anybody needs any help whatsoever with with their mod regarding writing - suggesting & improving Story, Ideas, Dialog etc. then please feel free to contact me via my moddb.com profile or my regular blog at henryswanson420.wordpress.com. Introduction And Context Of Report

This confidential document is my personal analysis of the recent security crisis at D.C.I. It contains my recommendation for a possible solution to this crisis, within operational time limits set by my security analysis group.

The Data Cloning Institute

The D.C.I. is a super-massive, ultra-secretive and incredibly powerful hyper-corporation, a world leader in 'blue skies' scientific R&D. Recent reports from our field agents indicate it's current focus is cloning tech. D.C.I is at bleeding edge - so far, they've reached four major milestones in their research. These are discussed briefly below.

Historical Note: While human cloning experiments became fully legal in 2013, it is only allowed under strict supervision by an internationally appointed U.N. Team and is strictly for medical research purposes only.

Experimental Research Phase One

Initiated by D.C.I in the early 1990s, Experiment Phase 01 was largely a failure. While they did successfully clone at least one subject during this phase, it soon died due to poor health and insufficient scientific knowledge about clone life-support.

Experimental Research Phase Two

Many subjects were cloned during Experiment Phase 02, which was considered a success. One clone, known only by it's Experiment Assignment Tag "DC-64x" survived significantly longer than the others.

Around this time, dozens of top scientists inside D.C.I started protesting about this research on moral and religious grounds. (One wonders why they didn't protest earlier.) Despite the relative power and influence they had within D.C.I, the experiments continued unchecked, operating under even greater secrecy, surveillance and control by the parent hyper-corp.

Everyone who has ever complained about this research has completely disappeared, and have not been seen since. It is suspected that they were disposed of by D.C.I Internal Security Division 5. [See video footage #28.64.222]

Experimental Research Phase Three

Research at D.C.I was now progressing rapidly during EP-3. Subject "DC-1179d" differed substantially from the others as it was cloned without mishap. It even had above-average reflexes, superior intelligence and a strong, healthy body.

One strange and important quality possessed by DC-1177d is that it also had an single extra Y-chromosome. This new clone was dubbed a 'Super Twin'.

It's counterpart however - housed in the same lab but in a different section - died unexpectedly under mysterious and disturbing circumstances. According to lab reports all it's internal organs had somehow exploded from the inside. So far, there has only been wild speculation among D.C.I scientists regarding the real reasons behind this event - ie. the release of 'latent psychic powers'.

Now however there is Experiment Research Phase 04 - this where our real trouble begins.

About Professor Kurt Mullins, PhD

Professor Kurt Mullins was a world class scientist, an expert in cloning theory and the chief researcher behind EP-02 and EP-03. He lived alone; his wife - who also once worked for D.C.I - died last year in a traffic accident, leaving Mullins psychologically scarred. Despite this, he and his assistants had successfully begun their latest batch of research in the underground cloning labs.

Spurred on by recent success, Professor Mullins decided that the time was right to clone a living human being - himself. Despite creating his own 'Super Twin' his own body died horribly during the procedure. This was initially thought to be the result of 'unexpectedly violent complications' in the cloning process itself. D.C.I quickly covered up all evidence of his death.

Unknown to Prof. Mullins, D.C.I were making other Super Twins in a parallel line of research. Yet their human Super Twins were all faulty in various ways, and none have survived. Among all their scientists, only Professor Mullins could make flawless clones.

According to our secondary inside source at D.C.I this clone has super-human abilities, in addition to being physically immaculate. This twin was stored in a special super-max holding facility at D.C.I labs. It's hoped that others like it will become a powerful weapon and make the hyper-corporation untold billions of e-dollars on the 'open black market'.

The Recent Crisis At D.C.I

The main problem at D.C.I - which is also now our problem - was that Super Twin "Mullins Alpha_One" did not know he was a clone:

When he came out of his birthing-vat coma, he didn't know the Professor existed; they never met. Taken back by his intelligence and high level of general awareness, Alpha_One was simply told he was a terminally ill patient suffering from an unknown illness, and - with his full consent - had been brought to D.C.I labs to undergo radical medical treatments to save his life.

"Mullins Alpha_One" now realizes that his entire life was a lie; that not only is he a clone but that D.C.I deliberately murdered Professor Kurt Mullins - and his wife. This has basically driven him insane with rage.

Initially, the motive for Kurt's murder was confusing; why kill one of your own top research scientists?

The answer lies in the fact that his wife Kate Mullins was our main inside source of rival corporate info. Not only that, she was the loudest voice behind the research protests at D.C.I. Somehow Kurt must have found out that D.C.I murdered his wife, and was so enraged he was planning some kind of terrible revenge on his employers. But they obviously got to him first.

My theory is that "Mullins Alpha_One" must somehow have all of Professor Kurt's memories locked in his mind - and that they're now beginning to surface. D.C.I assured M.A-1 that this memory loss was merely a 'temporary side effect of the healing process'. This attempt at deception was not only unsuccessful, but is fast proving to be fatal.

It's taken little of Kurt's advanced intellect to come to a decision. He has now not only escaped from their maximum security research facility but - just like Mullins himself - is now hell bent on revenge against D.C.I and everyone who works for them, or supports them.

Conclusion Of This Report

We must capture subject "M.A-1" alive as soon as possible, as his mind contains information highly valuable for our side. If we don't, our own entire cloning research program could be in serious danger.

Internal Cyborg Security at our base has been on High Alert for the past 48 hours. Initial reports however indicate that Alpha_One is armed with hi-tech weaponry, is wearing the latest in neuro-actived smart armor - and (so far at least) seems to be an unstoppable destructive force.
