Wildfire games is a virtual independent game development organization made up of dedicated volunteer staff members. Committed enthusiasts of the modification design community donate their time and energy to contribute to the eventual goal of creating freeware video games to the public, striving to prove to themselves and others that amateur designers are capable of developing retail-quality software. Game design is our passion, and our ensemble of talented, dedicated volunteers are devoted to producing well-crafted applications for the enjoyment of our users. WFG started out as the small modding team that brought you the largest and most popular mod for Age of Kings in 2001 - Rome at War, and since 2003 has been developing their own game from the ground up.

Our most prominent collaborative enterprise is 0 A.D., a freeware real-time strategy game established in an ancient era, specifically simulating the years ranging from 500 BC. to 500 AD. Each civilization featured in this compelling new game will be carefully constructed, ensuring historical accuracy in cinematic detail, depicted in their prime . The game's engine code is written from the ground up to allow us to open up new windows in the RTS community, namely allowing open-ended modification to the game. It was designed with the modding community in mind, and all the tools you need will be included upon release.

We are specifically looking for hard-working and motivated individuals with a good temperament, the ability to commit 10+ hours a week to the project, have a passion for RTS gaming, and an interest in working on one of the greatest free-ware achievements to date. Members of WFG are expected to work efficiently and cooperatively to produce their work, but for the most part create their own work schedule to adhere to their required agendas. Working as a team means that everyone has a say in what goes into the project, and everyone has their piece of the puzzle, however to achieve our quality standards and historical accuracy, there will most likely always be something to improve. However, we do realize that perfection is a mere concept rather than a reasonable goal, and as such, designers are encouraged to pursue their personal goals of perfection in design. You can read more about the application process in this thread.

Welcome to Wildfire Games! Since 2001, our dedication to quality has earned us thousands of worldwide fans, but never have we had such a vast medium to promote our work. Originally Wildfire Studios, this online-based development group has been dedicated to bring large scale works to the public. We started as a modification department for Ensemble Studios' Age of Empires II: Age of Kings (commonly abbreviated as 'AoK'), releasing AoK's single most downloaded total conversion: Rome at War. Receiving nearly 20,000 downloads, Rome at War has appeared in gaming magazines and various news website, devastating audiences with commercial-quality handiwork.

After the release of Rome at War, Wildfire Studios was renamed to Wildfire Games while realizing that more opportunities lie with Indie game development, allowing the designer to go beyond the limits of a restricted engine. That's when 0 A.D. was conceived, which you can now read all about in it's new ModDB profile.

We've long been notified about ModDB and it's benefits by various members of the site, however we hadn't found the necessity to set up a profile here because we felt that we had a relatively decent fan base without the need for special promotional opportunities. To spark some extra hype before the game really hits the fan with the Beta release (dependent on the speed of development and bug weeding), we decided it'd be somewhat beneficial to share our unique project with this community, also hoping that it may provide additional assistance to speed up the process.

So, on to the fun part! I've finished uploading nearly every jaw-dropping scrap of fantastic media that we've got to offer, not to leave out the wonderful work of Brendan Keough (b.w.keough).
