One question(ignore my avatar PLEASE LOL!):

Why would one like 40k over Fantasy lore wise? I pretty much always find Fantasy way superior on multiple levels. Maybe it's just me /shrug

I like both, but vastly prefer 40k due to the overall setting, you have an entire galaxy of potential story where you can easily fit your own characters and stories, with lots of diversity in terms of the main factions and inside them as well as plenty of focal points you can use for story telling from the Great Crusade to the Horus Heresy to the end of the 41st millennium and everything in between. That's a lot of freedom of imagination.

Orks are the other main reason, vastly superior to the WHFB equivalents.

Idk, the focus on death and nihilism in 40k gets way too overbearing for me at times. I feel like it's about random bloodshed. /shrug

Fantasy I feel is written with whole another motif. With a knightly motif(fight vs evil). Keep in mind, yes it is Gritty. Yes, the characters can and will use "ends justify means" line of thinking. But the characters will also help another and not backstab each other pointlessly like in 40k(I am talking WHFB 5th or 6th rules/lore, not the current ULTRA GIGA DARK rules). Also, in some books(like Caledor), there are some motifs present that just physically can't be present in 40k(family, love etc). I also learned to love to hate Malekith and his mother(without her there wouldn't be any Daemons in the world)-something I never felt in 40k. Not to mention pure respect for the Prince Imrik(or disdain for that EMO king Alith). I just never felt those things in 40k, maybe because everyone's faceless expressions of their faction's ideals? Must be.

High Elves >>> Eldar(like really)
Dwarfs are present!
Druchii >>> D.Eldar
Wood Elves are present!

What has 40k got going for it?

Tau Empire. Perhaps it's enough. I really don't care for a thing in 40k besides them(meanwhile Fantasy: Asur, Asrai, Dwarfs, Bretts, hell even Empire!).

Another thing I like is that there's no black and white morality like in Fantasy, where you have the good Empire, Lizardmen and High Elves fighting the evil Chaos Norsemen, Skaven and Undead.

In 40k every faction at best is a shade of dark grey, including the Tau. And that's why I'm so drawn towards 40k, every sci-fi setting has the obvious good guys (Galactic Empire and the Republic from Star Wars, the Federation from Star Trek, etc) fighting the evil guys (Romulans, Borg, etc for Star Trek, Rebel Alliance and CIS for Star Wars) and frankly it's annoying.

Here you have the noble space marines that are often just as eager to slaughter aliens and xenos as they are to slaughter loyal civilians (I'm looking at you, Blood and Dark Angels and all their mutant/heretic descendants).

You successfully delineated Star Wars! This is like the first time that anyone called Empire good and not in a fanboyish style. Not to mention that your thoughts REALLY hold water. Your + votes have been issued my good sir.

Now about Star Wars. There are two timelines that I see there: The Old Republic era and Movie era. It's funny how my allegiances change. During TOR, I fully support Republic. It's good, efficient, nothing against it. The Sith Empire, otoh, is just a barbaric entity trying to murder and pillage. Nothing more. Meanwhile, during movie era, I am full behind Galactic Empire. Why? Well it's an official government as chosen by people and senators. You need anything more? It was also good, efficient with an added benefit of increased safety(at the cost of some freedoms-you get some, you lose some eh ;) ). Rebels? They weren't anything but terrorists! That's right. TERRORISTS! They decided to strike down the government that was rightfully chosen. Reminds you of ISIL eh? Can't support terrorists sorry! Oh and if SW came out today with that same story, EVERYONE would be behind Palpatine as well(what with 9/11 and everything). <-my thoughts.

On that topic, the webcomic "Darths and Droids" might be for you: it's Star Wars, as written by RPG enthusiasts and the writers of the webcomic try to make sense out of some of the more boneheaded things in SW (like bringing the balance of the force: yay, the good guys were currently in favour, WHAT DID YOU THINK WOULD HAPPEN!?). They even manage to make Jarjar Binks likeable.
