One question(ignore my avatar PLEASE LOL!):

Why would one like 40k over Fantasy lore wise? I pretty much always find Fantasy way superior on multiple levels. Maybe it's just me /shrug

I like both, but vastly prefer 40k due to the overall setting, you have an entire galaxy of potential story where you can easily fit your own characters and stories, with lots of diversity in terms of the main factions and inside them as well as plenty of focal points you can use for story telling from the Great Crusade to the Horus Heresy to the end of the 41st millennium and everything in between. That's a lot of freedom of imagination.

Orks are the other main reason, vastly superior to the WHFB equivalents.

Am I the only one who thinks there are too many Imperium factions and sick of GW adding more and more? I think focus needs to be given to other races/making new, non-Imperium factions that aren't based off another race too much (Such as GW adding, say, Harlequins as a faction.). I'd like to see a completely original race in the future.

You sir speak of heresy when you say too many Imperium factions.

I share the same view but the Marines are just too iconic. They are the face of 40k. They are also what sells most to most new players. That's why GW tend to market the Marines more and why you see them the most in shops.

I only know of one store in my area which doesn't sell marines much instead focusing on other races.

It would be cool though if GW fleshed out the other Xenos races mentioned in lore like the Tarellians,Nekulli or Thyrrus. Or at least publish some official rules.

While I agree with expanding the remaining factions as opposed to more carbon copies of power armor, I'd settle with some love for other Imperial Guard regiments.

Adding a new major faction require moving the story and that is never going to happen.
The Imperial races are whats popular so they get the most attention.
Also if GW didn't take so long we would at least have supplements for each fraction by now.

There is no need to invent something new. How about variations of non-astartes traitors? Blood Pact, Brotherhood of the knife, Vraksian traitor militia, etc, etc, etc. They include tremendous forces, just like IG. I guess they definitely deserve to be represented by a concrete faction.

Indeed to many things are under represented. IG also just got a few new units so they can just copy a mold or two.
Vraksian militia are Forgeworld and they have full control over their own stuff. At least GW can't run them into the ground.
Also it seems that GW hates making stuff that corresponds to Black Library fluff. That's also Forgeworld's job.

Most humans play humans and/or want humans as the protagonist species. It's a species bias that won't go away anytime soon. Space Marines sell the most because they are the poster-boys of GW, so people buy the most advertised stuff, so Space Marines must be popular right? Let's advertise more Space Marines.
The most recent rulebook in general shows once again, humans are the go-to species in Warhammer 40,000 so they must get the most support. This is shown well enough with the whole "Imperium as one faction" in the allies chart which, btw, has screwed everyone else over. The only winners are strangely enough Tyranids and that's only true because they can ally up with anyone at all now. Orks, Chaos, Necrons, even the favoured step-child Tau, they all lost valuable allies.
