hey guys just me looking around moddb i had an idea, there are a lot of games which people dont update or work on an example of this is metal gear solid which i am shocked about. i was thinking saying vgar is about awareness of old forgoten games would it not be good to pick a few games on moddb and as a community, work on them and fix up a few of these forgoten gems... before you flat out decide this is a crap idea, think about it one picture counts as an update, the newly updated games are the top of the moddb list and so more people may become intrested. also you never know we might even find new members and buddes on mod db. so what do you guys say?

Yep great idea airborne But remember some old games don't really need updating since there is not much point or much to be added or it's just not the modding type either way it will still show people there are many awesome games out there worthy of attension. But yes i think this will work and be a great idea for some games i allready have a few in mind and even some that are allready being worked on and just need some more support or recognition. -- What, now it's called UTC? Oh that is so rubbish!

man theres a game JTF its also forgotton and not known only by few there is nothing about it in moddb thats wierd its one of the best rts i played:)

Every Game deserves its rightful place here on moddb. personaly...i think it is crap. no realy. sorry airborne but i am bored of playing mgs and so on. they are great. but the gen groups are here for those games. and with the links and the huge gen family now i dont think that we are lacking interest. after all, this group is very young. AND I SAID WE because some may remember that i said that i dont "rule" this group. WE DO. if we vote yes i will of course accept it. some may be confused now because vgar has downloads like doom and images of well known games like secret of mana in it. WE HAVE A FORUM. and the FORUM is here for that. (sorry for being a little harsh but this is what i truly think about it.)

ok buddy, but i did not say any thing about having to play the game just fix up the odd moddb site. as you say in the top bar thing every one is free to express there view, so be harsh if you want. also the my idea was not to do any thing to vgar (mabye i phrased it badly) -- Master yoda.... yea lol

Able to authorise old games. But remember that: + avoid to assign ANY developpers and publishers + add media (3 pictures at least) + add developper COMPANIES (company category) + assign the game to the developper After that, one of the Moddb admins or I, take look at it, and authorise it. ONLY remember about assigning the game to NOBODY, because you won't be able to post any pictures. After adding media, you can assign them. If there are old games that weren't updated, and you'd like to, but you can't (a lack of permissions), i.e. you can't add screenshots, then tell me, I'll see what I can do. :-)

and who should do the work? i am very busy and most people here are about 20 and therefore also busy. i only play games and have no expirience with working on games at all. damn, not long ago i learned what an engine realy is.

lol nobody will be forced to update the sites. Probably there will be some who will sacrifice his/her time for his/her favorite old-school game! And maybe there will be people inspired by the old game and create a mod like it (like Outcast/open Outcast) Moddb.com The original game was a gem! Sadly the developing company was liquidated before finishing the sequel... So I'm sure this idea will turn out good!

I would put it like that: If one feels like one is the guy to do it, then you are the right guy to do so. If you think thats just a waste of time leave it to someone else!

Yep great idea airborne

But remember some old games don't really need updating since there is not much point or much to be added or it's just not the modding type either way it will still show people there are many awesome games out there worthy of attension. But yes i think this will work and be a great idea for some games i allready have a few in mind and even some that are allready being worked on and just need some more support or recognition.

Every Game deserves its rightful place here on moddb. Pushing the dusty masterpieces out of the shadows and into the spotlight is a great way of getting some good modders looking for work to move onto some older engines ^^

there is now way (i think) that it would be against the moddb rules...
all we really would be doing is updating the sites and stuff, not really something i think modb would find bad

personaly...i think it is crap. no realy. sorry airborne but i am bored of playing mgs and so on. they are great. but the gen groups are here for those games. and with the links and the huge gen family now i dont think that we are lacking interest. after all, this group is very young. AND I SAID WE because some may remember that i said that i dont "rule" this group.
