i would like an opinion from you guys, most of you are very intelligent and know what you are talking about whether your views be conservative or liberal

The situation in Syria has now escalated to the point where the UN has declared them to be in civil war, and the UN Court has charged Bashar al-Assad's government with crimes against humanity and crimes against children. No one can disagree that this is intolerable, so now comes the question of what do we do.
-do we intervene only slightly as we did in libya, which limits American loss of life but does little to affect the civil war
-full intervention, which will cost unknown numbers of casualties and will like turn into another afghanistan
-Do nothing, anyone who knows anything about history knows that sanctions are stunningly ineffective, and anyone who knows anything about the current state of Europe and the east knows that Europe is incapable and unwilling to go to war, and the Russians have been cvonfirmed to be helping Assad's government, the Chinese will also not be joining us as their eyes are elsewhere.
As some of the most intelligent people in the moddb community i would just like to ask your opinion, no trolling, or flag waving, but i would like honest opinions, intervention, or look the other way. I would like to point out that last time we looked the other way at genocide and tried to keep our neutrality, 50 million people ended up dying

To answer that question let me ask you this:

Is it better to do what is convenient or what is right?

Maybe we could get lucky and Turkey will sort them out. They already had an incident with Syria downing one of their planes. Syria's neighbors are growing more concerned and angry about their civil war spilling over it's borders...

Some intervention will produce the least casualties but the longest term of instability.

Full intervention will start another unintentional genocide like Afghanistan's.

None will draw the conflict out, increasing deaths, but not causing as many that would be caused by a foreign military force. Also giving time for factions to become actual factions beyond simple small groups of armed angry people.

i agree, i just wish it wasnt always the United States intervenes or no one does, its not fair that we have to pick between our soldiers and Syrian civilians, i pick our soldiers every time but it still isnt fair
