Why this? BfmE2 is the same Engine as C&C3. so gates can work only not automatically only manual.
In C&C4 there are gates and also those have been manual and not automatic.

i had some ideas:

If you Select a HUB you can make/finish your wall, make a 2nd icon so you can make gates, same as wall that there is a HUB on the end, it does mean there must be room for it to build.

thing to get it happening: i have seen in mods that some units can have the ability to go underground, visible for you (can be done of course that everyone just sees part of the wall), but the point is that units can go over it. If you select the Wall, then you got 2 options (same as cobra artillery or fire hawk for example) OPEN and CLOSE well closing it will make sure units can't cross it anymore.

really nice idea.
its perfect cuz you can make giant or small gates, if they work as wall segments.
I hope it gets added :D

i think you miss something here, a gate is automatically as big as 5 normal wall segments. so you need room to build it. otherwise you need to click 5 times to get a gate closed. just like in TS only there it was 3 segments big.

or i don't get you.
