Background

The Mammoth Mk2 was GDI's main heavy battle vehicle during the 2nd Tiberium War. After the destruction of Nod and CABAL it was left behind, and with it the Walker Project, because of its high production cost.
They weren't used but weren't destroyed either. General Michael McNeil ordered some troops to transport all the remaining Mammoths at a secret location and kept the plans for creating all kinds of mechs to himself.

McNeil's decision to save the Mammoth Mk2s seemed prophetic, as, by the first days of TW3, GDI encountered a new enemy, the Avatar Warmech, which was largely deployed by Nod commanders all over the globe and at every skirmish. The Mammoth Mk2 got the green light immediately and their production started again. They played an important role in Sarajevo as well as Washington DC, Germany, Australia and Italy. The Mammoth Mk2 also found a match at the face of the Scrin Conqueror and Tripods, but still even these alien units were no match for its superior armor and firepower.

"The 'dynasty' of the Mammoths starts from 1945 to our days. All vehicles of this line were the brightest units on the field during their time, and evolved rapidly throughout history. All were the greatest, but only one was the greatest for more than one millitary generation. That one is the Mammoth Mk2. Having one very heavy machine gun, four railguns, two rocket pods and AA railguns or Disc Throwers, it's not a surprise it has been used by three generations of GDI commanders and still continues to be used."

-TW3's Superweapons: Intro to Mammoth Section"
"Mammoth Mk2s are the best units of the battlefield that can take down lots of enemies, but it is still very costly. Its cost reaches the astronomic cost of approximately 15.000.000$ each. They also require special foundations to be produced, so they must be transported to the battlefield via special Orca Transports, raising their cost by 900.000$ more. Their operation cost is very high too. It's almost 50.000$ for the fuel and 1.000.000$ for its ammunation. The crew fee is high too, as it consists of twenty specially trained soldiers, with a salary of 20.000$ per battle each person. So, commanders, when you loose a Mammoth Mk2, you cost GDI 17.350.000$, so be mindfull when you send them to battle."

-GDI Millitary Economics Guide-

What Matters Is Quallity, Not Quantity
Each commander is able to deploy only one per battle, but it's considered a one-vehicle-army, as it can take out an army of enemy units or a base by itself. Its superior firepower and armor makes it able to face enemy epic class units with efficiency.

The Mod is great but don't you think its a little wierd to form the story line after Tiberium Essence? with all these unit propiles. it just doesn't make sence to me. BTW I almost never loose a Mk.2 and if i do I'm almost surden I lost the battle. :P
