I'm Just thinking Avenger i think has set this whole thing up lured the republic to listen to him and without warning boom we get attacked by a massive fleet and get betrayed.

The Yuuzhan Vong have declared their invasion intentions and will destroy the Republic when the time comes and then simply turn on the Empire with the captured resources of the Republic.
