Stalin was an ******* no doubt about that(sorry ComeradeStalin).
But I gotta say, life wasn't that bad after his rule, well except the Cold war, but USSR wasn't the only one to blame.

Red Army deserves respect for all their sacrifices, they were the ones in constant struggle against Wehrmacht, and they were making the greatest sacrifices of all the armies in WW2. We will always remember!

Though you can't say they exactly 'Liberated' anyone but themselves. It's not liberation when you force one party to rule in a country and don't give the people any choice.

But yes, from the 1960s - mid 1980s life in the USSR was fairly god apparently.

You used to say right things, and exactly THIS fact confuse me. What stands behind those mysterious "no doubt" that Stalin was an *******? You managed to disprove the lie of today's western propaganda. What makes you trust to what they said before?

@Panzert Personal experience of my ancestors is enough evidence for me. I never hated USSR, in fact sometimes I even want it back, but dictators are a big no, no for me. Any government is something unnecessary for me really, but that's for another discussion :)

Comerade I simply dislike him, I hate all the atrocities he did, even though I understand them, I cannot agree with them. He was a necessary evil, I will admit that, but that doesn't mean I have to like him.

And the propaganda part, well you see, I try to build my own opinion as often as I can, it's not always the correct one I'll admit, but at least you can see that my views aren't one sided.

Atrocities? Which atrocities exactly you are talking about? Many people like to hide behind this misty wording. But it is already XXI century outside! Tnx to the NET everyone can get a lot of useful info even without leaving his house. Many people already did your job: visited state archives and posted numerous documents in the NET. Just make yourself a favour to read it. Why smaller part of scientists and historians managed to study this situation and already disproved these fables, while the bigger part of the population still believs this anti-soviet agitation? Maybe it is too hard to break old stereotypes?
After collapse of the USSR, when I was a child, tnx to US films I was ready to belive that communists look like some kind of orks or goblins (or even worse). But nevertheless I succeed to reject this propaganda crap. So maybe it is already a time to say "stop"?

Yeah and thanks to the NET everyone can easily type Stalins atrocities in google and get this Gendercide.org . Where are the documents you speak of? Because right now Stalins history looks bad. And how come you changed Anti-Stalin to Anti-Soviet? That's like saying someone who hated Bush hated USA, simply not true. Small part of scientists doesn't prove anything, there's substantially more evidence proving his atrocities than denying them, not just US ones.

You're an Ukrainian, shouldn't you know more than anyone else about the collectivization and the hunger people suffered through because of it?

No offense but you seem to deny anything bad in USSR. Not believing in western propaganda is one thing, but this is just not true. No hard feelings I hope? I'm half Ukrainian myself.

Где на Украине ты живешь? Сам я каждый год в Умань к родственникам приезжаю. :)

Ohoho, I always find it hilarious when a foreigner narrates how it was to live in MY country. Oh... maybe I don't know something and Stalin secretly ruled the USA? Or you are just a defector, who now lives in USA?
And here comes the moral of the fable: if you never lived in communist state - naff out with your opinion, if you just a defector - a fortiori naff out.
Go to sleep kiddies, reds are already under your beds.

Well, I don't know what do you know about Yugoslavia during WW2... More than 10 000 members of Red Army sacrificed their lifes for liberating Yugoslavia, and they didnt had to do that. After war, Yugoslavia broke every conection with the USSR.
Bad sides of communism was that they let the western media's keep denigrate them, so we have point of view like capitalist want. Yes, thats the real truth. Look what your presidents talk about. In Yugoslavia, during communism, every single man lives good. We had great salaries- with one salary you could go on vacation and live with that money for whole month... Whoever says thats not true, dont pay atention on him... Because, that was Yugoslavian "golden age"...

Yugoslavia... Yeah, i guess that was liberated in a good way. But so many other countries were 'forced' to live under communist rule.

I'd say yugoslavia is one of few, if not the only country where communism actually worked as it should have.

Eastern and Central Europe were liberated from fascism. Period. What followed was irrelevant. Besides, if Europe remained under Nazi occupation then by the end of the war all of the Slavic populations, for example, would be exterminated.

Well, don't you think that the USA forced other countries to live in capitalism? What you think about that? USA fought the Nazzis and then communism presented threat to the world? What the hell? Anyway, at first some of those countries were glad to live in communism, and later, greed for more money, western media and propaganda and spies made those people on rebelion... Why suddenly all people form eastern block, that lives peacefully in communism wanted to go on the west, and wanted democracy? This is not coincidence, I know those stuff because those things happend in my country...

Upon reading it again, i think i know what you mean. But nobody was exactly forced to live under capitalism, they just essentially restored countries to the way they were before the war (Except maybe west Germany) But i mean, you didn't exactly see people trying to escape into east Germany. It's obvious life was oppressive in some places, not so in others.

ediko911 May 14 2011, 5:52am replied:

I gotta tell you, the restoration didn't go as well as we had hoped. I'm from one of those occupied countries. Capitalism basically destroyed my country and many others as well. Things were only going downhill after USSR collapsed, for us at least. At least were free- yeah sure, free to die starving cause no work is available. In the union times apartments were pretty much free, food was dirt cheap,it was hard to get I'll give it that, but no one starved to death. Nowadays everything's so freaking expensive and money is so goddamn rare that I think we've gone backwards.

And don't tell me we weren't forced, no one used violence- that's true, but still the promises, influences, mass riots were made by someone. You don't just go - everything's fine, everything's fine, everything's fine, oh I'll start a rebellion today since I'm bored with having everything free, let's change to capitalism quickly so that we may live better. Those were the people's thought's back then, but how did they come to that conclusion? I'm 100% US had something to do with that, explains why the same thing isn't happening right now, were basically living even worse than back then, and yet everyone's quiet, I know my people, they don't have the guts to stand and fight themselves.

I agree with alot of your points. But the bottom line is, communism works in some places, capitalism in others. Neither should dominate the planet, but unfortunately some people just refuse to let them co-exist.
