However, the tank platform in general is simply quite outdated and very vulnuerable on today's battlefields', especially in unrban areas since everyone has an rpg nowadays, no matter if Russian or American. Lostarmour shows that if you use tanks without good tactics like the Ukrainians did in the beginning of the war you get even bigger losses then the US had in Iraq (those were comparitevely low for such a long war).
And yea, still, Russian weapons are not that great either, they might be reliable, but only because every technical solution used is the most surefire one, which in turn hinders technological and logistical capabilities lot. (come at me with the shitstorm)
Active protection is next logical evolutionary step for tanks, Israel already showed that it is able to stop even expensive AT weapons like the Kornet and finally might give amoured vehicles an edge in (urban and close quarters) combat again.
Lets us both agree for a German Armanent. But for the Israelis who are fighting Insurgents/Freedom Fighters/Spaghetty Monster know what else, are only fighting inregular war. Dunno how their Tank Protection goes in true war. Lets bouth agree that its succes doenst count until it see its first Tank battle/ATGM

Eastern Ukraine contains some of the largest arms/vehicle depots in all of Ukraine. Easy to refurbish and get going as well.
Yea, and the rebels never captured any of those. But there's a suspicious movement of old T72s and T64s (often with personel) from Russia. Pretty clear what's happening here.
Still no proof of this presented by the other side.
