Abrams does not hold up to 5 hits missiles. A stand T90. Just T90 cheaper, smaller, and can fly :)

I read a news article about a t90 being worth as much as 10 leo2 because its atgm would have taken them out before coming into firing range. As I am a total know nothing in that matter may someone with some knowledge reply on the matter?

it probably could if the Leo2 didn't use counter measures and charged blindly into a open field, with no shrubbery, hills or anything for at least 10 kms at all directions.

As a realistic combat situation? Seems legit.

That article completely fails to mention all the hard and soft kill modern western MBT's use and advances in NxRA both M1 and Leo2 series use.

If this was against a M1A1 or LeaA1/2 the T-90 would have a good edge, but against a M1A2 SAP or TUSK and a Leo2A6 the grounds are virtually even.

Besides the T-90 is on limited production and has not numbers to contest the force of M1A2s and Leo2A6s around.

T-90MS (8 september 2011 release) has NxRA (plastic-rubber deformation compartment with aluminum plates)inside the main armor composite with RELIKT 4e gen. ERA on the outside, and yes, it can go toe to toe against the M1A2 SEP TUSK and the Leo 2A6 with AMEX armor. The T-90MS has autotargeting informative aquisition on enemy vehicles and infantries, it has state of the art electronics, that can to a certain degree make decisions for engaging targets with the appropriate ammo. Has electronic jammers with the EMT-7 EMP generator and can be equipped with ARENA hard-kill system if necessary. Has Svinets-1 KE rods which are similar in performance to the U.S. A3 DU rods. T-90MS has also in the arsenal an experimental triple tandem HEAT ammo in DU with tantalum and ceramic powders that surpasses the old double tandem HEAT rounds, with a penetration that varies from 800mm- to 1200mm+ depending on angles and EFP liner materials. The next real deal Russian tank is actually a heavy one called T-99 ARMATA (not armada as many people think), this tank is an HUCP(heavy universal combat platform) which weight as much as the M1A2 SEP TUSK, T-99 sports a 152mm 2A83 gun, has 4e generation modular composite armor which is totally different from current tanks, has KAKTUS ERA to deal against 5th gen. KE rods, has NERA, will sport a more potent EMP generator to deal against future ATGMs, turret is totally unmanned no hatch there, but very thick armor, 1500hp-2200hp perspective diesel engine, electrical transmission, can shoot a wide variety of ammunitions: APFSDS with ramjets accelerated, tandem HEAT rounds, 152mm self guiding Krasnopol M2 rounds with 20km range(made to hit targets from the top of their turrets), etc. This is no longer the Soviet union where quantity was a priority of its time !!!

This is just a prototype. The future of this tank is still unclear because russian military doesn't have enough money to buy them in sufficient numbers.

Actually Russia has more than enough money for military needs. Simply they (money) always disappear on the way from one ministry to another... I blame poltergeist.

Quite so, plus Russia wouldn't like spending half of their economy on weapons, even though they probably could.

I guess if Mother Russia really needed the T-90's in a near future super big awesome war (Oh noez we're all gonna die), a modernization program of the heaps of T-72's would convert them pretty quickly, if just they put all their effort into it.

You know...I look at these...and all I see is a reworked T-72, and that isn't that great of a tank to begin with.
