One-man turret, hatchless cupola, poor mechanical reliability, too weak and too complicated suspension, lack of a radio and it's suppose to be one of the best tank of 1940? One of best tank for surrendering maybe (Of 430 built, 297 were captured by Wehrmacht) but not for war.

It was the best armored medium tank in service at the time. It's 47mm cannon was also the most powerful AT weapon mounted in a turret in 1940. (keep in mind that Pz. IV's 75mm L/24 was an infantry support weapon at the time)
Its lack of radio and poor French armored doctrine led to its failure on the battlefield.

"best armored medium tank in service at the time".

Matilda II would like to have a chat.

I'm sure Matilda would, but the British only called her an "Infantry Tank" as she was designed to support the infantry.
S-35 was designed to fight other tanks.

T-34 and Pz IV had better armor u know? And T-34 was much more powerful than it's SA-35 47mm gun. And it was equestrian tank. Oh yea and i know that T-34 had 45mm armor but it was sloped and that means greater effective armor.

You know what the armor of the SA-35 whas sloped and far before the T-34, And again im talking about the 1939-1940 period not after 1940 (Yes t-34 whas introduced on 1940 but mas production begin on 1941-42)

What are you talking about. T-34 went into production in 1940.. And if you look closer you can see that frontal armor isn't sloped everywhere. All angled areas are under different angle. And T-34 had whole armor sloped with same angle (yes i know not the lower plate). Last thing if you say that T-34 was mass produced at end of year 1940 you said that S-35 was best tank of the year 1940.

I have never said that it was the best of 1940 but that it was one of the best tank of 1940, and if we compare him with the German tank in France there is an one the best of the conflict of 1940. (Ps: Panzer 4 in the time was armed of one 7.5 court not at all comparable with 7.5 length which equipped following version.)

I said nothing about panzer IV gun. It was armed with short barreled gun for infantry support. And i believe that it could only use HE shells. But ur right that i should read more than twice. Oh yea and what i said equastrian i meant cavalry tank. And we forgot one of the most important tanks of that year. The KV-1. Gun was very effective, armor was unbelieveable but with lack of speed. But why do i compare heavy tank with cavalry tank? Yea now i know. S-35 had almost same speed as KV-1, +/- 2km/h.

Yeah Kv tank are very effective.
If I had to make a classification of the 3 better tank of 1940 T-34 would arrive in first place(obviously), then would come the KV and finally the S-35.

Best tank in 1940 is Panzer 38 (czechoslovak light tank, britishs says best light tank of WW2) Panzer III... T-34 and KV russians in 1941 dont have many pieces

No way this thing was the overall best tank of 1940.
It may have had good armor and a decent gun but it had horrible role distribution among the crew, no radio, not so good mobility...
Also, we all know it was tactics, mobility and coordination among units that made german tanks formidable in the early war, so we should base our rate on these criterias.
