How the hell does that center turret actually do anything? It's got practically no depression, can't engage any nearby targets, especially if this tank is tall.

Doesn't look like it's got much gun elevation to shoot over obstancles, either. :P

No, but surely it has 'bullet drop'. Physics, mate.

Well all three of those main 200cm Hellbores (I **** you not, two meter calibre is straight from the books) can hit targets in orbit but they're not designed specifically for that. There was a Mark XXXIV which had a dedicated anti-orbital gun, at the cost of giving up one main gun and the four 240cm howitzers.

That makes Hitler's Landkreuzer look like a toy...

These things were designed so that a group of 24 could handle an entire planet, when fighting against an enemy who regularly threw around kiloton to megaton range firepower in ground combat. What do you expect? Of course real-world designs are going to be fodder for it.

Still prefer this interpretation of the Bolo mk.XXXIII: Pre01.deviantart.net

More logically designed overall (given the premise of 30k+ ton superheavy tanks)

Ah, I've seen that pic before. Good old Sabellicus.

Reminds me of that USF mobile super fortress factory from Supreme Commander
The thing had about 8 AA guns, 4 battleship turrets 3 barrels each, a portable Shield cupola and a factory build in it to build tanks inside right during the battle.

The key word is "old"
SC2 one sucks.

True. I'm not sure how to describe it but the Fatboy II lost the "texture" of its predecessor, just felt hollow and wimpy in comparison.

And if this pic reminds you of the Fatboy that makes sense, the Bolo is actually sort of like the original Fatboy's older, much stronger big brother.

Description

From Keith Laumer's novels, Bolos are AI-controlled superheavy tanks created to be the ulti9mate defenders of humanity. Noticed we haven't had any sci-fi tank pics in a while so I decided to show you guys this. Credit for this render goes to Bluepencil of Spacebattles.com

I know the technical stuff for the Mark XXXIII pretty well, so here's a challenge: see if you can find any problem with the design that the books don't present a counter to.
