*In orbit above Bomis Koori, an Acclamator III escorted by 2 Reliance Assault Ships are scanning the planet below. Before making their decent into the atmosphere they send some MAATs to scout ahead and probe the enemy's defenses.*
*Praxis stands in the command center of one of the Assault Ships, the "Kodiak", nearby is a holotable displaying the surface of Bomis.*
"Prepare for our decent, once we've picked out an LZ we need to get down there as soon as possible and begin deploying our forces. What can you tell me about its defenses?"
*One of the Intelligence officers speaks up.*
"Sir, current intel states that we should expect a small defense force, but its a bit outdated. Expect it to be slightly larger and well entrenched. Hopefully the enemy has kept the majority of their forces around Kinyen."
1000 Battle Droids
OOC: Copy/Pasted it. Just waiting on an Imps response.
OOC: Kodiak Praxis? Copying Tiberian Sun are we?
Guilty xD McNiel FTW!
2,000 Clone Troopers
*The Imperial Base was located on Bomis Koori IV, using the extensive fortifications that were used nearly 300 years ago at the Battle of Bomis Koori IV.*
*The Imperials had fortified the fort, which was protected by extensive ray shielding. Expecting an attack on this planet, as Chalcedon was under attack and Nikllon was not connected by any hyperspace routes, making it less likely to move troops their, the Empire had moved some of their remaining troops to the fort.*
*Clone Troopers manned the battlements, setting up E-Web blaster cannons. The Direct Artillery had been moved up onto the battlements, with quickly made light walls to protect them. The Indirect Artillery were behind the walls, behind the AT-ATs and TX-130Ts, and opened fire on the enemy as soon as they came into range.*
*The TX-130Ts, along with the AW-Ss were outside the main fort structure, though inside the walls. They were positioned to give firing support to the Clones on the walls if any enemy troopers came up.*
*The AT-AAs were spread around the fort, ready to shoot down any enemy aircraft.*
*The AT-ATs were inside the fort, one positioned behind the main door and the others scattered around, ready to provide supporting fire.*
*The Scorpeneks were inside the fort structure, defending the hallways and narrow corridors. 250 Clones were inside the fort with them, as well as the Imperial Commander.*
OOC: The fort is cannon, as well as its ray defenses. HH gets a city encased in a mountain, I should be able to get this cannon fort xD (not that I'm complaining about the mountain, it actually makes it easier for us hopefully).
OOC: I expected that, just read up on Bomis. Although I don't like that your using it despite being destroyed by Republic forces and being 300 years old, I guess I'll allow it for the sake of challenge.
OOC: Didn't see that bit, but it was rebuilt, obviously...
LOL. Write me up details on each of the three points of interest on Chalcedon and I will pick one, the above is not fair. Also I bet those defenses were destroyed.
Its just a fort with shields.
Shields to protect from orbital bombardment (he has no arty) and the fort is just a fort.
I hate defending in cities because of all the people and collateral damage.
I can make up a city, though, if you want.
EDIT: As Praxis said, its hardly going to be a real challenge anyway. He does have 10,000 troops to me 2,000 xD.
Realized that, HH, edited it out xD.
But I read your city with "mountain ridges" and kinda laughed a bit. But like I said, it works in our favour anyhow, so all is good xD.
The only City with walls that I know of is the Capital of Onderon (If I remember correctly) and even then I prefer a decent entrenchment. Anyway, if Praxis is okay with it then fine.
I already devised a way to steam roll Ten. Don't worry yourself HH.
We forgot to display what our Reliance's weapons are. Ten doesn't have a clue.
You're just gonna orbital bomb me, aren't you?
Yep, sorry. xD Reliance's weapons are mass drivers, with the exception of its AA defenses, not laser-based weaponry, Ray shields are useless.
Oh for gods sake.
Meh *shrugs*, I would of hoped to take some troops down with me but oh well.
Just get the battle over with then. Shortest battle in history, this >.<.
Rofl, you gotta see the irony of this xD
What irony lol?
"We've detected a single base sir. As expected its well fortified, and is protected by a ray shield."
"Order the Acclamtor to land 3 klicks away from the Fort. Load the Torpedo launchers with heavy impact slugs and dive bomb them!"
"Yes sir! Preparing bombing run!"
*The Acclamator descends towards the surface and plots a landing zone at a safe distance of around 3-4 km away from the Fort.*
*The Reliances point their noses at the Fort and lock on with their heavy torpedo launchers and descend towards it, guns blazing. Explosive slug rounds bombard the Fort, ignoring the ray shield, and decimating the battlements. As the Assault ships drew closer, they opened fire with their mass driver cannons and finish off the remaining defenses.*
*By the time 3rd division is deployed and arrived, the fort is nearly leveled. All there is left to do is mop up remaining resistance and capture whoever is left along with tending to the wounded. (Because I'm merciful xD )
I'm officially hating the Reliance as of now.
I am this close to introducing a ship like that of my own. I can see why you did it and the practical side of it, but it is just so cheap that I feel it is unfair, even though it isn't really.
Damn you HH for making me get rid of the Racho with you damned logic and reason! Lol.
What was that about having no artillery Ten? XD
I'm glad HH accepted this unit, would have used it in the EU had it not been for the RP restart.
It was your Mass Drivers. I hate, and literally hate, mass drivers. Only thing in star wars I dislike, pretty much.
Lasers are so much more cooler and makes life simple.
This unit cheapens ground battles. I had the same idea for that unit for the Sith Imperium, and of course now the Empire. HH convinced me not to use it, as it cheapens land battles.
I see now that it does >.<.
Unless he just manipulated me into doing that so that we wouldn't have a Reliance type unit putting us into a disadvantage... *glares at HH* xD.
OOC: Though I agree with your view somewhat, my tactical mind has taken over in this case, and it told me to exploit the hell out of my enemy's weakness. xD
This is a game.
P.S. Don't mind me, honestly. I just hate losing in such a way. I am going to complain every time you use the Reliance like that, though, so be prepared xD.
Fun=Tactics in my opinion. Otherwise I wouldn't play strategy games.
No worries, I'd be mad too.
This isn't a strategy game, its an RP. Hence why most OP powers and units are banned. Tactics would dictate "by any means", fun dictates "as long as they don't spoil the fun".
My opinion, anyway.
WAIT! "Don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to yourself."
I would have prepped defenses against mass drivers... just sayin xD
Not sure why it's so hard to use particle shields AND ray shields...
WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY!
Why not use it? xD
No one saw that Praxis would actually turn the mass drivers on the fort.
No mistake on Ten's part, the attack was certainly unexpected. Now we know to fortify everything with particle shields and ray shields, consider this battle a lesson of things to come.
that, orrr, you just deploy more AA to places where your forces are built up in specific areas. like say you got 3 forts, you would deploy AA to cover all arks of fire. long range AA at that.
That way, this doesnt happen again xD
For clarification, I'm not criticizing Ten's lack of use of particle shields, as it was unforseen, I'm somewhat criticizing how he things the Reliance is an end-all tactical advantage.
No offense, Ten. I understand where you're coming from.
*sigh* and here I was thinking that people would finally rp for fun rather then for winning.
I didn't mean it was an end-all tactical advantage.
At least Adenn seems to understand what I meant xD.
Don't misunderstand me. I like the Reliance ship and I acknowledge its strategic worth, but I dislike the effect I think it will have on land battles.
Just to clear that up xD
So... Who won?
