Packin' it in. news - Secrets Of The Venator mod for Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption

Greetings all.

When I first started modding EAW - that's right, it's going to be one of those posts - I use to be able to sit down and code for a couple of hours at a time, and still be left wanting to do more.

It's gotten to the stage now - if I'm honest with myself, it's been that way for a couple of months now - where I'm having trouble finding the motivation to even do little bits of work.

It's a combination of things that has led to this, namely RL stuff - Uni, Social Life and a family matter or two that I don't want to go into - but I think that, mostly.......I'm just bored.

It's gotten to the stage now where, coding wise, I'm not learning anything new and it's all just copy/paste/repeat of code I've already done.

So I've decided to declare the mod 'mostly dead'; although, anyone who has seen The Princess Bride will know, there's a big difference between 'mostly dead' and 'all dead'.
(And if you HAVEN'T seen The Princess Bride...........WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?)

I'll still be more than happy to address any issues people find - and even take a request or two - but I'm no longer going to be working on it on my own volition.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN HOWEVER, that I'm dead and you can start dividing my stuff amongst yourselves so to speak; I'm still easy to contact: here at Moddb, Everything Empire At War, the Filefront Forums, Reddit, Grandprixgames.org.........heck just do a Google search for AUS_Doug - You'll either be talking to me or an Austrian guy.

I won't be (easily) broking any 'I couldn't get a hold of you so I thought it'd be OK to use your stuff' crap, in spite of any crap EULA; If a mod here uses my stuff improperly, I'll ask the moderators to take it down.

Over the coming days, I'll be uploading - and, in one instance, re-uploading - various things for people to use.

While I'm all but done with coding - save for helping people of course, and making any changes to the mod as outlined above - I'm still going to be trying my hand at models and textures; I'm already doing a few jobs at the moment for people in fact.

While I'm nowhere near as proficient as some of those divine beings to whom we as a community owe a great debt, I'm steadily progressing in my abilities; If you need model help, drop me a line - beaten on an ancient drum or otherwise - and I will come to your aid if I am so capable.
(For those of you who have read Revelation, don't panic if you choose the former method; I don't think that summoning Darakaer is automatically a death sentence.)

And so, like all good things, my time draws to a close.

While I still intend to be active in this community for as long as it exists, I feel that this is as good a time as any for the necessary formalities.
