GREETINGS TROOPERS!
Well we're now in July and we're still here. The EA Master Server appears to still be operational with both BF2 and BF2142 online multiplayer facilities still working as normal. How long this will last is anyone's guess, we are very much on borrowed time, but we might as well enjoy it while we have it.
In any case we feel we need to take advantage of this extra time by having another crack at a First Strike multiplayer event. The last Blastfest had a poor turnout to say the least, but this was partially our fault for giving fairly short notice. What we'd like to do now is announce Blastfest Take 2 if you like.
With this one we've set the date for the weekend of July 12th, we don't know if the EA Master Server will be still up at that time, but if it is we want to give First Strike the best send off it can have. So clear your calendars for that weekend and jump on for some awesome First Strike multiplayer action.
As an added bonus we'd like to add that the long awaited final map intended for the 1.6 release will finally be here for that weekend too. So if the EA Master Server is still up at that time you'll also have the opportunity to get in a few battles on Dathomir Prison Break!
Alliance Intelligence has received information regarding an Imperial prison complex on the shadowy remote world of Dathomir. Following some less than successful engagements with the Empire, a large number of Rebel freedom fighters have been captured. The Alliance's network of spies has it on good authority that this is the place to which they have been incarcerated. A small, but crack squad of Rebel Pathfinder operatives has been tasked with infiltrating the Imperial installation and freeing those Rebels held within.
With this map you should have an interesting time playing for either faction, and as is often the case in the Galactic Civil War, this will be an asymmetrical battlefield with the Rebels only having access to light equipment to aid them in their efforts to strike the Imperial stronghold. While the Imperial forces find themselves equipped with relatively heavy armour in the form of both AT-ST and AT-PT Walkers. Will the Rebels be able to use the speed and manoeuvrability afforded them by their fleet of Speederbikes and the cunning of their Spec Ops troops to infiltrate the prison complex, defeat the Imperials garrisoned there, and rescue the Rebel prisoners?
Could be exciting times ahead.

Dathomir Prison Break is coming on nicely guys, and looking on track for a release this weekend. Let's make sure we get a load of people on so we can play the hell out of this interesting new map. Should be a lot of fun.
