GREETINGS TROOPERS!
Well we have now come to the end of an era. The EA Master Server has finally gone down, and with that the login service which records your rank, and keeps track of your unlocks for your customisable kits. Without being able to log in to the server you are unable to play the game on-line, even the local or singleplayer version of our mod will not run due to this issue. However singleplayer is available if you disconnect from the internet.
We are looking at ways to get around this. Some of our fellow Battlefield mods have already fielded solutions to the problem of the server going down which allow their games to be played, and we'll be looking at possible solutions too. We are currently working with GameRanger, a facility which bypasses the need to log on to the Master Server to play the game. They already support many Battlefield games including BF2142, and it may very well be possible that you'll be able to play First Strike via this system. As yet no solution appears to be available for the lack of kit customisation options. However, the way First Strike deals with kits means that only the kit primary weapon is effected, all other gadgets are still available, which is a plus we have over BF2142 itself which finds its kit options severely hampered by the lack of the customisation functionality. Still hopefully this will also be restored soon so both BF2142 and First Strike can become fully functional again.
As of now First Strike is off-line only with no multiplayer options available at this time. But rest assured we'll keep you informed of developments as they happen, and we hope to be back up and running again soon.

As unfortunate as it sounds, all things must die eventually. Still, I hope that someone creats a work around and tells many people about it so that people will continue to play this amazing game
