Decided to post my response again and this time screenshot it. The post is not a attack on anyone personally but just a criticism of the picture referenced up in the description.

So what happened to my last response?

Media.moddb.com

Mysteriously DELETED.

Hope1134, this is a star wars fan group, not your personal clubhouse. People are to be permitted to post what they want in relation to the franchise. If you're going to screw over the group with your bias, than you're the one with the problem.

I posted a criticism of where I thought the franchise was going, perfectly related to the group. And then when I construct my argument and present it, you delete it? REALLY?

ADVICE, grow a pair, and instead of sitting behind a keyboard with author powers to delete, you act like a grown fan, and actually attempt to counter my arguments with your own. If you are capable of that, without quoting some company like EA, then do it.

Do not expect me and others to take kindly to censorship on our own fan groups for a franchise we feel passionate about. You're literally asking for backlash.

-------------------

Well, if Raptor or Mirsh wants to continue the discussion here feel free too. Won't delete your comments like the other person posting on this group. You can speak freely, even if you find my entire response to Hope overly dramatic. I just get tired of his ****. If you remember back on the 501st group this isn't the first time there's been complaints about this.

honestly its really childish that he deletes stuff that slams disney or ea. i dont hate the new lore, there are some things i like and somethings i dislike. But the point remains we all have different opinions about star wars and everyone here should respect other people opinions. I agree with Joshua custom stormtrooper defeats the point of stormtroopers. The Empire is modeled after Nazi Germany, why would the Galactic Empire have custom stormtroopers if Nazi Germany didnt for one and for two stormtroopers represent the Unity of the Empire diversity defeats the point of that.

I don't expect everyone to agree with me, that's for certain. I just can't stand when my arguments are removed and silenced. Especially on a group I should be able to speak them and spark a discussion for the record.

Some like the new Disney's and EA's spin on things, but older fans like myself, not so much. Agree with your points by the way.

The heart of what I said back in reference to the post, was they're trying to make the series more appealing to other fandoms and people by taking in norms that's popular today and throwing out the previous lore that already had it's own devoted following for this franchise. Sad to watch, but it's their MO.

Starting from where we left off....

First of all, lets be clear in that I am as much fan of the concept of the faceless, expendable stromtroopers as you are. The fact the regular soldiers begun having character (and value) is what kill off a good portion of my interest in Star War and I begun gravitating toward WH40K.

Now, playing the devil’s advocate, these guys are not really looks like an standard Stromtrooper unit. They maybe this is an composite unit temporally formed to take care of the situation at hand.
As not seeing through the helmet, Stromtrooper helmet provided excellent vision, if used by the person it was meant to be used Youtube.com
And that guy in the background looks like wearing a light Spacetrooper armor Vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net . What he is doing in the ground? I have no idea. To provide heavy fire support perhaps? And those things in the shoulder can be anything form ammo cartridge for energy weapons to data packs to hack through door. (They do look like code cylinders worn by Imperial Navy officers)
And for “girl” I have no idea which one you are talking about. If you are talking about the one in the rear, that looks like a wielding a flamethrowers. While the one left side is actually wearing armor similar to the armor of the Imperial Heavy trooper from the Force Unleashed game. Again, no idea what is that doing here.
Overall, I can see where you are coming from, but here is the issue, Disney is trying to make the canon less grimdark and more kidde friendly. So changes like these are bound to happen. And as long as they don’t go too far with these, it is acceptable.

Yeah I noticed everyone's been gravitating to Warhammer more lately due to the fact they have a far easier time respecting their own lore and building on it.

Thanks for the vid on the helmets.
The girl in the hood specifically.

I'm just thinking they're going to try "modernizing" most aspects from tech, gear, and even culture in the franchise to appeal to people outside the fandom while ******** on everyone already in it and disregarding what we know about the franchise.

It's somewhat acceptable, unfortunately they've been getting worse since the Clone Wars, gradually more and more kiddizing it. You remember when Assaj caputured Alpha 17 and Obi Wan Kenobi? Or how Palpatine sent off a jedi and his clone army early in the war for a suicide mission on a world under assault by the seps cause he found out about a Sith in a leadership position of the Republic? Those comics were golden, now it seems that's too dark for Disney to get anywhere near.

They decapitate two guys in the rebels show, *oh, that's dark* Yeah, turning the camera away and watching reactions is real serious...

Will see how they treat rebels and the comics more in the future. But if they keep getting worse I'm gonna have to just ditch the franchise, the continuation of it anyway. I can't forget the older lore, that stuff is gold to me.

Going back to the Stormtroopers above, what bugs me most ist just the overall design.
Star Wars (even the prequels most of the time) has this very specific, slightly retro, worn and gritty look. Sandtroopers don't have fancy velcro gear, they have WW2 MP40 mag pouches made of leather. Many SW weapons were made from WW2 or cold war era guns.

Everybody is generally wearing lots of leather and everything is somewhat rugged. If you take away the iconic helmets and replace their weapons with AKs, the Endor Rebel Commandos might as well be some 80s South American druglord militia essentially.
And that's what I love about the SW athestic. Only few other sci-fi settings manage something similar (Firefly being a good example).

And those stormies look like bland generic modern sci-fi, which is quite different and doesn't fit Star Wars at all.

The same happened to me a couple of months ago here: Moddb.com

As far as I know I didn't break any rule with what I said:

People need to keep in mind one thing while developing games/mods for an IP belonging to a Cease & Desist trigger-happy, greedy company: Never go too big.

While getting it to Steam brings cool functionalities and bigger exposure, that exposure is way too big, and gets the attention of the big greedy companies.

Stay out of the spotlight until the game/mod is released. Do not get covered by big sites. Keep a low profile until the time is right, and there is nothing the company can do about it anymore.

The most I did was call Disney greedy. Which is a fact.

All companies are by definition greedy cause they exist to make money not cure world hunger or something utilitarian like that. If that was their goal they'd have either gone bankrupt or be a non for profit organization that exists off donations.

As for Hope's behavior, I agree with what's been said here so far, it's childish and achieves nothing beside being a little inconvenient. I personally prefer the EU since stuff like Darth Plagueis, KotOR, TSL, etc is just amazing and I'm really sad that I not only won't be getting more of that stuff [aside from SWTOR which isn't what (I think, most) KotOR fans actually wanted] but I'm also having it taken away from me since it could potentially be poorly overwritten or people like Hope end up actively trying to **** on the EU.

That's not what greed is.

A selfish or excessive desire for more than is needed or deserved, especially of money, wealth, food, or other possessions.

Keywords: "A selfish or excessive desire for more than is needed".

It's a capitalist world, everything costs something, everyone knows that. The company needs to gain enough to pay its workers and be capable to continue doing whatever it does.

But there is a difference between doing a good job, keeping itself alive and growing to do even more to doing everything to gain more and more money for greedy CEOs and shareholders.

Some companies make good products, for good prices, keeping a balance between what is good for its workers, its customers and itself. Some companies just try to suck every single cent they can from everywhere they can at the expense of everyone else, its workers, its customers and its products.

So no, not all companies are greedy. Most of them are, though.

Right I didn't consider companies like CD Projekt Red. My bad :P But yeah Disney certainly is greedy. If it weren't for their legal bribery of government officials (lobbying) copyright law wouldn't be as ****** up as it currently is. It used to only protect an IP for a few years after it's creation now it's decades after the author's death :/

I quote from his profile:
"Lights, camera, DRAMA! I'm a giant fan of Star Wars. Due to recent events my interest in Star Wars has gone up. The increasing quality of canon stories coming out is pretty much awesome. The new Star Wars canon is a glorious compared to the non-canon."
Can't you all see that this guy is a drama loving, obnoxious little troll? He knows most of us hate what Disney is turning Star Wars into, but he keeps on spamming the images and videos with little kiddie stuff,LIKE A TRUE STAR WARS FAN,BITCHES!
I almost expect him to jerk off when he sees new Disney announcements,or animated Twi'leks.

I'm still convinced he's either being paid to actively troll this site, or he truly has no life. In which case, that would explain how he can spam multiple groups simultaneously WITH THE SAME GODDAMN IMAGE and description like clockwork.

I like the new battlefront but Battlefront 2 has so much more replay-ability with mods and not to mention who can get tired of the story of the 501st I mean come on that campaign is ******* great to play on the hardest difficulty.

Personally,I don't have anything against him. He can post whatever the hell he likes, but should learn that this group is not his home turf to delete other comments and opinions other than his own. Some people(me included) just don't like this Disney kiddie stuff, dude. I liked what Force Awakens achieved, but I hate what Disney is turning Star Wars into.

amen to that. Disney has turned star wars into a kiddie thing....yet its name suggests it shouldnt be. Star Wars gee wars damn i am pretty sure that entails some pretty gruesome things if kids cant watch to damn bad.

HOPE has been deleting comments and content since as far back as Generals 2 on the C&C Paradise group, hence the reason I essentially stopped posting content or comments there, even though I am a massive fan of the series.

It's one thing to love the new canon (although I do not) but it is yet another to call the old SW canon "trash".
