For people and teams developing mods and games with Valve's Source engine.
Most Source development activity goes on at the Valve Developer Community wiki, or Steam forums. This group is more like an outlet of those on ModDB than a community in its own right.
Just follow through these two videos, and you will have a mod that you are able to add custom code into. Since The new 2013 version of the SDK just recently...
Following the relaunch of TF2 as a free-to-play game, the Source SDK and SDK Base 2006 game have been made available to everyone on Steam.
After more than 50 releases, the Blender SMD Tools have left beta. Import and export all types of SMD, compile QCs automatically and import DMX with 100...
Gabe Newell: "We’re spending more time on tools development now than anything else."
"The mod tools have to stay on PC, but the content that comes out is agnostic."
It's nice having all the devs here, we should use this page to put most of all our work up, as its, well great to develop for source.
hey guys just wondering if you could help me out i need a coder if anyone coul point me in the right direction of either freelance coders or even free ones that'd be awesome :)
btw you should post up more tutorials
What exactly do you need? I am a coder, and I might be able to help you. PM me, or comment in here with your needs.
I'm a Junior at the University of Florida. I'm studying Journalism and Criminology right now, but I'm taking time off to do what I've always wanted to do which is work on video games.
I've been playing PC games all my life.
I was always a Half-Life man, I was entrenched in the Half-Life mod community back in the day.
I played all the classic mods when they were being developed. I always liked Action Half Life the most. I also liked Firearms, Day of Defeat and Goldeneye HL.
I never had the money to buy a computer powerful enough to edit with, however.
Eventually I just said **** it and asked for a PS2 for Christmas.
I never owned a console until I bought a PS2.
I bought it just to play GTA3, because the cost of computer gaming was getting out of hand, and my parents never encouraged me as a developer.
Coming back after so long... It's all completely different.
Anyway, I'm trying to start a web site, I want to mod.. etc... etc...
I am working on some random map, just for the sake of it and my mind. I don't get motivation that much since I have school to finish off
Do something that only needs one skill. You'll be able to work fast, won't have much trouble with things spiralling out of control, and are much more likely to make a release at the end of it.
I'm a map and character scripter, so I've decompiled one of Valve's maps and am currently busy turning it into a miniature first person puzzle/adventure game. :)
You're not the only one man. I'm doing jack **** but I really feel motivated to do something
im not working on anything at the minute but am inspired to do something
It's great to have group comments. :D
Well, hello everyone. The addition of the groups system is awesome. Hopefully people will make good use of it.
Cheers! Look forward to hearing more of you guys.
