Description

So what are the differences (if any) between the radicalism that exists within the theistic community compared to that of the non-theists'? The bias here is quite obvious- one should really be concerned when it isn't, but I just want to point out that I think it's unfair to simply label an entire group simply because they have radical groups who identify with them. I think it's important that I explain that my disagreements with extremism and my disagreements with religion are two separate, unconnected opinions. I believe an extremist/radical to be one who is willing to resort to violence- I don't trust these people regardless of their personal allegiances. I disagree with religion (on a lesser part) because I see it as force that is constantly used as an excuse for one's misdeeds, as well as an excuse for one to improve- although it may help some people cope, I believe it desensitizes one to the strengths of human will alone. Religion, in my opinion, is a self generated lie, and unnecessary for the overall improvement of humanity- I don't think religion provides compassion or morality, rather that one provides these attributes themselves.
Regardless of my personal viewpoints, I still think this is a topic worth debating.
Keep it clean- target people's ideas, not the people themselves.
