Gaming Events for June 19th and 20th
Jun 18, 2010 Social Modding Club News 1 commentWe try out the newly updated Orion and Ragnarok Arena
Join the Social Modding Club where we plan events to play some of the great mods of our time, both old and new. The goal of this group is to allow members to easily plan and schedule events for gamers to play together. Moddb.com and Desura allow anyone to easily find, download, install, and update mods. This is the perfect place to setup a group with a forum that pulls gamers together so we can all enjoy the fruits of everyone's labor. My hope is that this will allow gamers to experience some of the amazing online mods that don't always have a large user base. I plan to have regularly scheduled events to keep this group active and a forum that will support users posting their own events or requests for gaming. Please join the group and enjoy the pleasures of playing mods with friends!

We try out the newly updated Orion and Ragnarok Arena
Join us this weekend for some GoldenEye: Source and SourceForts action.
We are playing Frontlines R3LO4D and Forgotten Hope 2 this weekend.
This weekend we are playing NeoTokyo and Age of Chivalry
This weekend we will be playing Alien Arena and Hidden Source.
Hello Everyone,
I sincerely apologize but I am going to have to skip this weekend's events and do not have any other excuse other than I am busy as hell :(
This is the first time since the start of this group that I am skipping an event besides 2 weeks ago when I was in Vegas (which is excusable). So again I apologize and will try to line up a couple events for the next few weeks to avoid this going forward :)
Hello All,
I apologize but I will be going on a very long vacation (vegas and florida) so I will not be posting any events for this weekend. I may post some events next weekend if I get time during my break in Florida. Have a great couple weeks and things will return to normal in a couple weekends, assuming I make it back alive from my buddies bachelor party in Vegas :)
Peace
Write about Fistfull of Frags, best dead mod, ever
Yay! Unfortunately there are only a few high quality mods/indies out there out of the hundreds of concepts, so eventually the club may have to recycle the good ones or bravely walk through the random bug-ridden poor gameplay mirey gamble that is mods.
Great group idea!
Welcome new members!
Thanks for joining the group and please feel free to spread the word.
Also check the forums and track boards of your favorite mods so you know when someone posts a gaming request or plans a gaming session. I am going to start posting in there as well to get some gaming sessions organized hopefully. For the official events I plan to switch to a more spread out weekly event style so there are more opportunities for everyone to join at least one. I will try out the new style next week and will post an event for this weekend as well.
I'm always looking for new/old online mods that are really fun but not necessarily heavily played. There are tons so if you have any suggestions feel free to post them in the forum.
Desura.com
Finally if anyone is a developer and wants to work with me to plan an official event around a new update or release, please PM me and I will gladly assist in any way possible. I think as this group grows more that will become a more desirable proposition for both :)
Sorry group I apologize I am still learning the timing of the approval process here at moddb.com. I'm sure they are super busy with getting Desura up and running and the Top 100 contest. So I need to remember to post my event articles well in advance of the event day.
I posted an article late last night for some events this weekend and they are still in the approval process and will probably be showing later tonight. I will learn from my mistake and begin posting my event articles at least 2 days in advance :)
Actually a really cool group idea, but this is exactly what I've been doing for the past few years using xfire!
Yeah I figure since Desura allows gamers to download, install, update and talk about mods then this would be the perfect place to host events for people to play some good old mods and some new ones too.
I used to use Xfire along time ago just for its general uses but I'm glad that is working out for you. If you ever feel like dropping in any of our events or joining the group, please feel free :)
These upcoming events should be interesting....!
