WRECKAGE is going Standalone!
In 2011, the Wreckage mod amazed Crysis gamers with its professional approach and action gameplay, that even pushed the CryEngine 2 to its limits.
In the near future this single-player campaign will be released as a free standalone download. And every gamer has a chance to experience this action orientated Crysis mod for himself.
PATCH & more
We are currently working on a patch, Desura support and a Post Mortem. More details and the BlackHawk model download will follow soon. :)
WRECKAGE
Wreckage offers an action orientated presentation, teambased combat, complete voice acting and graphics on the same level as the original Crysis game.
It's the final chapter of the story, that began with the map "The Harbour" and was continued in the modification "Rainy Days". It tells the story of three soldiers who try to survive a devastating war between two worlds. The play time will be somewhat longer than one hour.
Will you be using the free CryEngine3 SDK to make the mod standalone? If not, what engine will you be using to power the standalone verison of Wreckage? If so, then all I have to say is this:
Wreckage + CryEngine3 = Incredible, professional awesomeness!
Wreckage + CryEngine3 + DX11 (if available) = Genuine rival to a movie with pre-rendered CGI (I'm dead serious when I say this)!
CryEngine 2 is actually more advanced than CryEngine 3.
CryEngine 3 was designed for consoles and is toned down, technical wise.
Crysis 2 appeared to be more a lot more optimized than the first, though.
Ce3 is everything ce2 is though, plus much more.
The FreeSDK is only really missing dx11, which can make it seem more limited, but that's around the corner...
Tessellation is probably the only reason why I love the DX11 version ;)
Crysis 2 was designed for consoles. CryENGINE 3 was designed for everything. It can do everything the second installment could and then some.
Are you actually that stupid you believe an earlier iteration of the same engine is more powerful than its successor? If so, what planet are you from?
CE3 is capable of EVERYTHING CE2 could do and some more. CE2's only DX10 specific feature was per-object motion blur. Does CE2 support hardware tessellation, or any other DX11-specific features?
Do you believe Source 2004 is more powerful than the Portal 2 engine?
Entirely different argument. Also, DX11 Tess is tacked onto CryEngine 3 and it does a ****** job of it. More optimized, but it's also doing a hell of a lot less.
CryEngine 3 is a crippled version for the sake of consoles. Key technical features were left out.
Go look at the DX11 tess shots, they aren't good, I'll tell you that, they tesselate everything, even posters.
Listen, the developers themselves have stated CE3 is a specialized version of the Engine designed to run on consoles. Unless a Engine is built from the GROUND up to support DX11, it will always be tacked on and not properly used, as you can see in Crysis 2 PC, with the DX11 patch.
It wasn't crippled at all. The engine is basically the same as CE2 with rendering advancements through DX11. What "key features" are left out? None. CE3 wasn't built from the ground up, it is based on CE2, thus inheriting all of its features.
Stop making **** up. A game was designed for current generation consoles in mind doesn't meant the engine is not up-to-scratch.
But the Physics was better in CE2 than CE3,
Actually DX11 wasn't implemented well in Crysis 2 simply because it was a quick pass to show its there. Don't take it as a reflection of DX11 through out CE3.
CE3 can scale to meet console requirements but it was in no way developed as a console focused engine. Crysis 2 was developed for consoles using CE3's sociability to its advantage. PC version of Crysis 2 didn't get proper attention.
So key features weren't left out of the engine, just Crysis 2.
Oh hey, someone actually explained it well.
I think you're seriously just confused about CE2 and CE3, because of the different levels of detail that Crysis 1 and 2 offered.
CE3 is CE2 and then some (as many have stated here).
I would just like to know what makes you think that CE3 is missing features? Any sources?
OT
One thing thou, Crysis 2 doesn't look as good as the first one, and then of course the devs did **** the game up gameplay wise aswell.
Oh sorry. I didn't realize you got such a good look at CE3's source code.
No it isn't, Crysis 2 just made it appear that way.
I'm not talking about textures or models; those can be replaced, but the abilities of the Engines are different, they were designed for different things.
they HAVE to be replaced if youre going to make it standalone
No. CE3 has the same abilities as CE2, plus a few others.
Yeah, it's not all about DirectX11. I said to a friend too that Crysis 2 is the only game that looks worse than its predecessor. Especially is the case with water and particles. Doesn't look bad though, but if you're developing for PC only, CE2 is still good for kicks.
Congratulations on your development!
DX11 cryengine 3 water looks and behaves better than the Crysis 1 water imo.
Thanks, SinKing.
Only thing that matters: release all 3 chapters (Habour, Rainy Days, Wreckage) in 1 package!
Maybe with CE3.
Yes, that's our wish, but we have to clearify some things before. But on the CryEngine 2.
The "Crysis Wars" Link leads to Wreckage.
Heres a working one
Fileplanet.com
I have fixed the link. :)
Hey, would it be possible for you guys to implement custom weapons for your campaigns?
There already are custom weapons like a sniper rifle and the HK Ump45. :)
Crysis Wars! :D
Wreckage will be available as a free standalone download which runs without Crysis Wars but depends on it and the CryEngine 2.
So there will be two versions: The original and patched mod and the standalone download for every gamer who don't bought CrysisWars.
We would love to convert it for the CryEngine 3. But that's not possible for us.
Curious, why is it not possible?
Because this mod is set in the Crysis universe, they can make it standalone as it's singleplayer and there's a Crysis Wars free trial which can run 3rd party mods.
They could convert it to a Crysis 2 mod, but they couldn't use the standalone SDK to do so.
Ah, duh. Thanks Steve.
Didn't want to install CW for a single mod, so excellent news!
wow, nice. if i had a computr that could run crisis wars or Wreckage (when it becomes standalone) i would get it. however my computer cannot. When i do get one, i will be sure to give you my thoughts on it.
MMMM TIENE BUENAS GRAFICAS
It would be nice if developers put native languages in first place if you are playing like german spec ops then you will mostly hear german words under english subtittles... Like in Half Life mod Paranoia...
For now the game chooses your installed language for the audio (with our german recorded dialogues) and displays english subtitles if you don't live in Germany.
Do you mean you want to hear only one language all the time?
Sweet ******* christ, this looks amazing!
Disgrace of a community . We have here a great standalone mod with AAA quality and you guys fight over which engine looks more UBER , you guys don't deserve accounts for this site .
Great looking mod guys . Can't wait to get it :) Looks action packed .
I would like to point out that it needs better optimization , everything else is just AAA quality .
Awesome mod, but I have a strange bug - sometimes my screen starts blink (all display turns black and after 0.5 sec all returns to normal) - someone have same problem? How to solve it? If need, I can record video. BTW, I run this mod on a license patched version of Crysis Wars.
I never heard of such bugs, maybe there is a problem with your graphic card driver or the game needs to much performance if you play on a laptop.
No, I'm playing on desktop, and I never had same problem with any games - Crysis \ Warhead \ Crysis 2, CoD, Battlefield, etc - all works fine. My spec is Core i5 2400, GeForce GTX 460, 4 GB RAM
So if I download the CW trail and the patch I can play the mod?
Yes, or you wait for the standalone version.
