Prague, Czech Republic 19th May - Bohemia Interactive, the award-winning independent Czech development studio, is pleased to announce the development of Arma 3, the brand new installment in its series of critically acclaimed realistic military simulators.
Combining over 10 years of experience, building upon the strength of its predecessors, and set in the most detailed environment of the series to date, Arma 3 offers gamers radical engine improvements and a unique sandbox-style military gameplay experience.
The next chapter of this stunning military simulation game is scheduled for release exclusively for PC in Summer 2012.
After years of intense warfare against Eastern armies, Europe has become the last stand for the battered NATO forces. On the verge of being driven into the sea, NATO command embarks upon a most desperate measure. In the hope of seizing what seems to be a well-guarded military secret, Operation Magnitude is launched. A small group of Special Forces and Researchers are sent to a Mediterranean island deep behind enemy lines. However, the mission is compromised and the task force destroyed, leaving Cpt. Scott Miller washed ashore upon the hostile island. In his effort to carry out the mission, he will face the dangers of modern warfare, an unforgiving environment, and the consequences of his own decisions...
Some of the key features of Arma 3 include:
Bohemia Interactive´s CEO, Marek Spanel, explains: ''We're happy to bring the next generation of the Real Virtuality engine to life. The increased potential of the engine should allow Arma 3 to become our best-looking, most detailed and innovative military simulation game to date.''
Ivan Buchta, Creative Director of Arma 3, adds: ''Our ambition is not only to deliver the next generation of Arma with the improved engine, but also to fully exploit the potential of our new
technology in the gameplay. You can look forward to the unique experience of blending sandbox-style combat with a rich story.''
Arma 3 will be featured in private presentations at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) June 7th-9th. Bohemia Interactive will be located in the South Hall in booth #2803.
YES :D
HELL YES!
**** YEAH!
HOOAH
Will it have a different engine? Arma II's optimization makes my computer cry.
Did you try Operation Arrowhead? It was like a whole WORLD of difference, so I'm sure they've made even more improvements!
compare the vegetation. how many forests do you see on takistan?
There are plants in takistan?
ofcourse there are :) or You don't see the trees and bushes and else in valleys?
Im raising cash for a new gming PC for this and BF3
And a new GTX 600 ;D
maybe they will optimise the engine a bit, make it actually run above 20fps.
(buried)
"maybe I will upgrade my computer a bit, make it actually run above 20fps."-fixed
yeah if its bugged like A2 ill pass
But ARMA 2 had quite good post release support.
Why exactly was this voted down? Bohemia has a history of supporting their products long after release and I don't see how that is a bad thing. I understand that poor optimization and bugs in the first place are bad, but atleast they clean up afterwards.
WooT!
aaaww nice arma 3?
Today is a historical day... The day Arma 3 was announced... In 1 year... we will be playing this piece of epicness... I CANT WAIT 1 YEAR
Its using the same engine as OA guys. If you never played OA you cannot judge. Arma 2 out of the box is a steaming pile alone. But with OA it is a victorious golden statue in a field of dull simulators, it was GREAT. Not to mention the mod support. Benny's Warfare, Zombie Apocalypse... so much fun.
Expect optimization out the wazoo, new content, sandbox moding and the same old fun with three times the polish as original Arma 2.
Or not. There's an off chance it might all go to hell like the flashpoint series did ,but lets HOPE it doesn't. :)
In my mind the Flashpoint series goes OpFlash:Cold war crisis, ARMA, ARMA 2, ARMA 3
(buried)
flash point is still good, the new one is awsome
No... Just no...
I didn't notice much of a difference between ArmA2 and Arma2: OA... ?
needs... new... video card...
I no your pain me to :/
quitting smoking to save for new PC -
You da man!
Even though I will end up buying this, I really wish they'd move onto a new engine.
CZ Je paráda, že děláte další díl. Právě dnes jsem si říkal, že by bylo prima, kdyby se začala dělat arIIIma. V jakém prostředí se bude odehrávat?
EN It's great. Today i tought: I hope that arIIIma will be soon. In which evironment will it be?
CZ: Naprosto souhlasím, ale jak už tady někdo říkal, doufám že ten dabing bude lepší. Mimochodem dobrá práce kluci v BI a držím palce.
EN: Totally agree, but like someone said here before, hope that voice cast will be better. BTW good job guys at BI and good luck.
Very excited by the news. This is a day 1 purchase for me.
Lame now I gotta fork out more monies :D
"Design & create countless customizable scenarios using the intuitive & easy-to-use mission editor."
Please tell me you actually updated the editor then. I've been using it since Flashpoint, and the amount of scripting it can involve even for simple things like prop placement is ridiculous.
Lol, seems some diehard fanboy downvoted me because they think having to type 'this setPos [getPos this select 0, getPos this select 1, 2.5]' just to set the height of a static unit (like trying to mount a machinegun onto a bunker using 2d icons that rarely match up to the mesh) is somehow easy and intuitive to use.
I love ArmA, but nothing about the game was ever easy (be it the gameplay, the editor, or even the content creation compared to newer engines). The core is the same since the OF1985 days, and unless you're wearing blinders, it shows.
I totally agree, that sort of crap has made modding a total pain.
well i hope they make aiming easiyer in ArmA III because i barely kill any one in this game (in arma 2)!!
(buried)
I hope they improve the gameplay. because arma 2 Infantry gameplay is ****.
I am hoping to see more destruction in Arma 3 and better AI.
YES !
Sweeeet, but please. Better voice acting, I cringed everytime anyone spoke in ARMA 2.
Wow, I didn't know such an amount of people where playing ARMA 2 here :P
But yeah, yay ARMA 3 :D
(buried)
Hmm, not very excited about this one!
I might consider buying it if it finally has some decent first person animations,
at least realistic vehicle sounds and better voice acting,
half of the bugs without updating the game constantly so I could at even play some time
and finally NO 3RD PERSON VIEW! WTF!
Destructible Enviroment and changing my keysettings without a "master in crappy user interface" would also be sweet, but that´s another story and since I have lost my trust in Bohemia Interactive to deliver a real improvement over OFP...
I guess I better hope for Red Orchestra HoS instead!
There is 3rd person view...
Yeah I know, that was my point! I don´t want 3rd person view in a game that´s about realism! That´s not even close to realism! 3rd Person view is a reason not to buy ARMA III!
the voices were half the fun :P
You can turn it off...
The environment was destructible.. if you blew up the buildings they'd fall to bits, if you ran over a tree the tree would fall over, the only cases where there wasn't spectacular damage were for things like artillery and explosives but that could be fixed easily using the same method they used for the aircraft craters.
Ok, my bad, I´ve never seen any destruction in ARMA (II) in action so I forgot there was such a thing!
ZOMG! Arma editor ftw!
Hopefully this one will be delivered less buggy, better voice, and controls(not a biggie as it can be mapped to virtually anything).
