The article explains the concept behind the notorious OpenSSL bug dubbed Heartbleed.
Hello members of the Science group, Some people awhile back asked for a list of transistion fossils.
Note to all members, any religious posts or News articles posted on this group will be deleted This s a science group, not a religious group. Thank you...
I heard many times that in fact power output of the Sun is very low compared to it's size. But people usually consider Sun as something monstrous with...
Triangulum brought to my attention this amazing article which I had to reply to... Enjoy :)
Recently I've gotten very interested in astrophysics, astronomy, cosmology etc., and would like to gain at least a basic understanding of those subjects. I know they can be fairly difficult to research, but I would very much like to get educated on them. Do you guys know of any books or other forms of media where I could learn more about the study of the universe? (also, I only have a high-school Junior's understanding of science and mathematics atm, those being up to biology and algebra, just started chemistry and pre-calculus. I'd also like recommendations for other scientific/mathematical areas I should study before attempting astrophysics, and what I could read up on for them)
Thanks, I know I'm using a very large brush here with the subject at hand, but any help is appreciated!
talk to trianguim, he seems to know alot about spacey stuff.
and if you stay in science he does seem to know what he is talking about. i am sure he woud know some good books on the subject.
i would help you but i am not to good in spacey stuff. if you need help in biology, geololgy, psychology, anthroplogy, socialogy, zoololgy, and some ecolology i am your man. but not astronomy, cosmology, and astrophysics.
and math is a four letter word. we dont use it here :)
Well known scientists would likely be a place to start.
Isn't Neil deGrasse Tyson an astrophysicist?
Hi all I love space I think I faund cool group :)
Are you also a fan of DoW: Soulstorm? I'm just guessing by your name and the fact that there are a tonne of Warhammer fans on this site :P
Not such fan as a player.
Im more space fan than w40k fan :) You can always look at my profile I have beautiful space pics.
I feel the warp overtaking me... it is a good pain!
I am not your bootlick!
Apparently he spilled his Khorne flakes D:
Black hole? Then you wont feel pain, you will die quickly :D
Yes as long as it isnt one of those things that show jesus riding a dinosaur or stuff like that.
I am allowed to post a video about dinosaurs, right?
Ok everyone listen, this is science group not the christan page. it is about science here not your religious beliefs.
I am tired of all the crap so I will just start deleting comments that arent science but religion.
and yes its because i am an evil horrible person who doesnt want to hear another stinkin evegelical try and dominate my life and beliefs.
this is not persecution because this isnt the place for religion, so get over it, creationism isnt science and hasnt been science since the middle ages.
Agh I accidentally voted you down, apologies. Anyway, I agree with your decision as well, all this creationist/evolution debate is absurd.
Agreed, we should focus our resources elsewhere, maybe talking about cures. However if Christians can't voice their opinion, then evolutionist can't either. There everyone's happy:) otherwise there will be lots of debates.
Oh, you can voice your opinion. But so can we. If you don't like my opinion, that's too bad for you.
so by your theory what makes evolution (nobody has observed the big bang) scientific? (but maybe you don't believe the big bang theory, so then what do you believe?
please don't delete this comment because it questions your religion. also i just watched this: Youtube.com and even though i disagree with some of the points, its an old video so its not 100% up to date, but still it causes problems for what you have accepted as science.
You do realise the Big Band has been observed right? The Interference you see on TV when you don't get any channels? You're looking at the light from the Big Bang, redshifted into the Radio spectrum.
Red shift, the only real evidence of the big bang. Except it also proves the bible! It says a bunch of times that "God has streached out the heavens" I think that means that everything in the heavens is moving away from us, right. Just like a redshift indicates:)
Exept it doesn't prove the bible, because firstly: Back then people thought the sky was something like a tent - it's even described that way in the Bible - and that the stars were also on that very same tent.
Red Shift is NOT the only evidence of the big bang.
What else is there?
Also show me where the bible talks about the heavens being like a tent in a literal meaning? It was most likely symbolic. Heres an example why it would be symbolic: How can you explain a airplane to a person that has never seen one without making a full scale 1:1 model of it?
We should probably take this to pm so deerhunter won't get mad.
Let me remind everyone that the Big Bang is not proven, it's a theory, so let's shut down this argument before it replaces the evolution/creationist one.
Let me remind you that for something to be a scientific theory it has to be proven.
Theory = Proven Hypothesis
Other evidence for the big bang: CMB, abundance of primordial elements (98-99% hydrogen), matter is distributed throughout the universe exactly as expected after the big bang....
No, a theory is "a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural and subject to experimentation". Something which is proven is a fact, the Big Bang is still just speculation. It's a good theory, but it's definitely not proven to be correct.
Gravity is 'just a theory', Light is 'just a theory', Germs are 'just a theory', Atoms are 'just a theory', Cells are 'just a theory'...should I go on?
No. That is a hypothesis. A theory is a well substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, which has been repeatedly confirmed by experimentation and observations, or in other words: A proven hypothesis.
Simply put, i agree. Sometimes people will hate you for what you do, it doesn't make you an evil, horrible person. It just makes you... Batman :)
