Capitalism as pictured by Adam Smith:
"Every man, as long as he does not violate the laws of justice, is left perfectly free to pursue his own interest his own way, and to bring both his industry and capital into competition with those of any other man, or order of men. The sovereign is completely discharged from a duty, in the attempting to perform which he must always be exposed to innumerable delusions, and for the proper performance of which no human wisdom or knowledge could ever be sufficient; the duty of superintending the industry of private people, and of directing it towards the employments most suitable to the interest of the society." - Wealth of Nation, Chapter 9.

If you did some basic research you'd know that the Tiananmen Square incident happened under Deng Xiaoping who was the reactionary Capitalist of the Communist party. He's the one who started turning China into the Capitalist country it is today...

Don't believe me? look it up?

Capitalism is the reason why the third world is the third world.

No, the reason why 3rd world countries are in such a misery to be called 3rd world lies in the achievements of their ancestors. we all no matter which human civilization share the same start and from then it was work over thousands of years that made us all what we are now. this reaches far more back than the invention of capitalism which is only a few hundred years old.

pretty much you blame capitalism for what their own weakness in the past and colonialism, industrialism, wars, nature and even bad luck has done to them.

Colonialism had a positive impact however. Although, I am curious, why do you say industrialism had bad impact on them?

one of the reasons the 3rd world is called 3rd world is due to the bad live conditions of the people living there. industrialism does not make live for most people better. it aims for growth, more efficient, more producing, more consuming.
it strenghtens the state totally ignoring the human cost. best examples are china and india which hold massive industrial power while most people there are suffering and have poor wealth. i guess the next i write is quite amusing for most in this group: today's so called capitalist countries are more "social" to their people than most other countries. For that we worked and payed in our past and the 3rd world is going a similar way. what they forget is that the west after colonialism and later industrialism had to go through 2 great wars, the depression, revolutions, and many more unpleasant times. i doubt that any 3rd world country will get better on the same path the west did without going through similar difficulties.

can you tell me about the positive impact you mention there? i am curious about it.

@Orange Nero: Yea well that failed, sorry about that. I will try to keep my things organized and up to date. Been a busier week than usual =), hence my absence. I had found a great video about it(colonialism etc) in the past I am still searching for it. If I find it I gonna post it and we will continue our debate after that if you don't mind(you can also pm me if you wish). Also because I would rather have a specific discussion on one page than crowding the home page with tons of unrelated comments.
In any case, I am glad to see it is still very active in my absence and welcome to our two new members, yuribeat5 and Deer_Hunter. Forgive me for my numerous spelling mistakes, I am a little tired.

Wrong, civilization progress is why we have the third world countries. They were unable to keep their technological and economic status when they became independent. What would communism change? Relatively speaking we would all be equal, but equally poor. Communism is a incomplete system which as merely self-destroy the fools who tried to use it. Capitalism has only improved the life of the global population over time. Furthermore, if you look at the third world countries which were under control of the British empire during imperialism, they were much richer back then. It's when they declared Independence that they became poor. So again, in most cases, the poor are a result of human error either in the past or in the present.
