I sometimes agree with Georges Carlin views, but this is prejudice, and false. Even if you don't create wars, that's doesn't mean there won't be any. Then you have a choice handed over to you, you can try diplomacy, which sometimes works with civilized people, you can fight them back, or wait till you get assimilated through bloodshed if not utterly annihilated. I would prefer the first option but with terrorist it doesn't work that way.
Now you might find that odd that a Canadian is such a fervent defender of American action in the middle east but, thing is they are indirectly keeping the peace.

American automobile industry might have fallen in ranks, but they are still leading in integrated circuits technologies(to my knowledge, Intel and AMD still have no rival) and were until the decision of the clueless president, leading in aerospace technologies. The very design of a rocket is bad, sure it works, but its not a solution. It seem it gonna take that the private sector take on the job to help those bureaucrats lighten up. Furthermore, the cancellation of the return of the moon to maybe go to mars in 2030 is a total crock, you don't run before you start to walk. Until recently even Armstrong acknowledged this and I believe the politicians made him shut up. But enough with that, I do not wish to incorporate my own conspiracy theories to the mix.

About the illusive freedom of choice issues, well there is none, shock!. The current system may not be the best system but it surely works. Now let's say everyone had a say in every political matter, either there would never be a decision or there would be several stupid one because I am sorry, people as a mass are stupid. This is why there is war. Oh no! The leader ordered war on the mystical land of the pink elephants, well...... change of leadership is in order? Duh, no kidding! People are corrupted, clueless, or mislead. The idea of representative is a good one because its work on a competitive basis.
The only problem is that, what do you do when there is none worthy of taking the job. The only thing you can do right now is choose the one who is the more competent of the pack. But then again, you must assume the rest of the population will do the same. But then it means you would need to share a similar ideology and it turns into a whole new ethical problem. Although, it is better than the current alternatives. Anarchy is not the solution, remember England in the 12th century, well that turn out well, did it not?

America intervention is necessary. Sure there is collateral damage but there always has been. Now it may sounds selfish to say that but the things is if the war in the middle east explode to epic proportion which I expect it will, everyone looses. The Arab emirate are so rich they could burn everything down and rebuilt it. They have at least 3 times more petroleum that we have in Alberta here in Canada, so why is the populace not living at least as well as the Alberta's residents?
The reason is simple, those "princes" are keeping everything for themselves. They could be a prosperous country but their ideology is f**k up they are merely wasting resources trying to build the highest towers to compete amongst themselves which by the way aren't design nor built by them. They pay the check, now that's something to be proud of isn't?
Now I don't particularly have a problem with that, however, it is with that money they are arming terrorist.

We armed nomad and tribal societies with weapons built due to the European renaissance, now they want to make up for it. It's the crusades 2.0. The difference now is that our populations doesn't want us to defend ourselves. Common sense really is an oxymoron. In addition, normally to obtain the Nobel peace prize you must have done something. We could have gotten rid of Hitler before the war, we didn't. We could have gotten rid of the communist before the war, we didn't. We could get rid of theocrat fighting their "holy war", we must. It took two atomic bombs for the Japanese to lay down their weapons. Now we live in peace and they are now an asset to our modern world. I don't like the idea of targeting a single civilization, it makes us just as bad as they are(Muslim extremist), although they are forcing our arms. We don't bomb "white people" because we have evolved, we don't bomb Asians either because they too have evolved, it no about who has the biggest stick anymore. Although we can't say that for everyone. It's not about the color, it's a about the ideology and whether they are a threat to us. For the record, the bombing in Libya was to help the populace overthrow their ****- tator.
