Truly dedicated to the "make something different" ethos of modding, members of the Original Game Creators refuse to use other people's intellectual property in their creations. These modders do their own dirty work. They don't rely on a team of highly paid professionals to do their design work for them. They don't rely on a world-wide ready-made fanbase in order to recruit team members or fans. They earn their watchers and team members one at a time, relying soley on the strength of their original creations.
No Half-life subplot derivatives, no Star Wars/Trek/Gate mods, no Dragonball Z mods, no nothing but mods involving original ideas.
The very very few, the proud, the OGC.

Here's an unsolicited article I wrote re: copyright infringement and modding with the help/input of lawyers as well as a professional games designer. Drawing upon legal precedent and recent court cases, it concludes that copyright infringement threatens the future of modding. An interesting read.

Congrats to World of Padman for placing 4th in the MOTY 2007 Indie Games category! WOP is one of the very few original games to have achieved a MOTY win!
Here's to wishing all of OGC the best in the New Year! :)
Members: please feel free to add any news posts that are meant for the front page here as well. Nominations for new members are also welcome. Thnx! :)
Here are threads in which I've posts urging moddb.com to include an "originality" category in the MOTY competition.

Despite claiming to solicit suggestions from the community, MOTY 2007 actually has less categories than last year. You can show your support for originality by voting for the aforementioned comments.
